i am Catholic and i dont believe that non believers of Jesus Christ will go to hell. i went to church last Sunday and this was the exact subject he talked about. I mean, he used the example of Ghandi and he asked if anyone actually believed that Ghandi was rotting in hell. not likely. i think no matter who you are or what you believe in, if you live a Christ like life, even if you dont believe in him. then you will have a chance to accept him at death.."and all the departed shall enter into the kingdom of heaven" i dont believe that if you live your life and never accept Christ as the Son of God you go to hell. i believe people who do not, yet live morally and rightously will have that chance at the end.
Did anyone watch the real story of Moby Dick on the History channel,a couple of weeks ago ? It was pretty creepy...After the whale sunk the ship these guys floated around for a few months and started eating the dead.In one of the rafts no one was dead yet so they drew straws to see who was going to be killed for dinner...The guy that lost supposedly went right along with it,that was their story anyway. ( no lie.. I'm sitting here listening to an 80s' shoutcast station on winamp and a Fine Young Cannibals song just came on I'm scared ) ....anyway they were rescued and it talked about one of the guys went crazy and hoarded all kinds of food in his attic.I thought that part was kind of funny.
Holden -- just to tell you where I come out on this...I believe Christ is the only way to the Father...I believe the Bible makes that pretty clear. I believe sin is a condition that we all deal with and one which seperates us from God. I believe that Christ was the literal sacrifice for our own sins...the ultimate gift from God. I do not believe Christ would pour out his life on the cross if there was another way...I believe Christ is the Messiah that is foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." -- Romans 6:23 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM IS NOT CONDEMNED, BUT WHOEVER DOES NOT BELIEVE STANDS CONDEMNED ALREADY BECAUSE HE HAS NOT BELIEVED IN THE NAME OF GOD'S ONE AND ONLY SON. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." -- John 3:16-19...those words are attributed to Jesus. "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." -- Luke 9:26 -- words attributed to Jesus "They all then asked, 'Are you then the Son of God?' He replied, 'You are right in saying that I am.'". Oh...and about Gandhi...like the rest of us, he wasn't the greatest of guys either. He preached non-violence when it was comfortable...he encourgaged the British to use all force necessary in confronting his rivals...he was not this perfect man he was made out to be....and NONE of us are that perfect man. Which brings about the need for a savior for the entire lot of us...which leads me back to my beliefs about Christ...and one last passage.... "Therefore, no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, AND A RE JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT CAME BY CHRIST JESUS. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forebearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished -- he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." Romans 3:20-26
the very first case we read in criminal law in law school was a case where guys were stranded out on the ocean, and they killed and ate one guy to survive. they finally arrived back in England safe and sound....but were met with the death penalty for their crime.
Jon Bon Jovi perfect dean? If that's the case I have to ask one simple question: What is society coming to?
you're right!! the secret is revealed!! he's the exception that defies 2000 years of Christianity!!! but don't forget...he's "living on a prayer!!"
Now I'm intrigued by what you are planning to say. Case against cannibalism (without moral reservations) 1. It spreads disease (so does eating animals) 2. It's better to starve than to eat human meat (Why?) 3. Society says it's gross (not cannibal societies) 4. It's not as nutritious as other available meat (False) 5. It will ruin your reputation/limit financial gains (won't affect some people, but maybe) 6. Causing a demand for meat will encourage a supply source to be found. (actually leads to a moral question, probably is no good) 7. silence, head swaying back and forth (last resort?) What am I missing? Oh, and about the Communion. Rimbaud and Dylan are correct. Many people have been taught that through Transubstantiation, a priest is able to turn the wafer into actual Jesus flesh in order for His sacrifice to be renewed over and over (which devalues the completeness of His original sacrifice). In fact this "wafer God" is paraded around in the Eucharist for people to worship. This belief was introduced into the Catholic church by Radbertus in the 9th century, but in fact was practiced in early Egypt in their Sun worship. This was debated during the "Sola Scriptura" thing where people wanted to depend on only the Bible and not on traditions also. So the transub. thing is a literal interpretation of a verse that was meant to be symbolic. Jesus also said 'He is a vine' and 'He is a door', but they never interpreted that literally. Curious.
