Well he better start buying into the offense as his teammates have been doing, start playing defense, stop taking looong j's, and stop saying stupid things like "It's on me." I am all for Chris Webber. What have we been saying we need more of at the four? Offense right? We can now start Scola and have Webber come off the bench as the back up four and five. Webb had some of his best years with Rick Adelman. He knows the offense inside and out. Get him on the cheap with the vets minimum.
I don't know about this. From a pure talent and ability stance it makes sense but we're talking about a player that carries heavy baggage. He's never not started a game. How do you think he'll react to coming off the bench for Adelman and his unpredictable lineups? No more ego's. I'd rather scour the D-League's and what not to find a Hayes type younger player that's willing to work hard and accept whatever role is given to him rather than sign somebody who's going to pout if he doesn't get his way.
He said in the offseason that he'd expect to get paid well for whichever team takes him. That would pretty much eliminate him as an option. I haven't heard anything from Rockets management or coaches to suggest they are looking for another option at PF. They seem to be quite happy with the combination of Chuck and Luis. I think they like Luis/Mutombo as the backup center as well. If Webber joined the team, he wouldn't get big minutes, so it doesn't look like the right match.
I think that CWebb would be demanding somewhere equal to or above the $5mil range, which would cost the rockets a lot more than that in tax. But we are still way below other teams that are doing as well such as Miami and New York just to name two. But that means, with the team doing as it is, I don't know if ole Les is willing to fork out more money just to see what RA can do with it. IF CWebb came here, I would hope it would be to be a backup center behind Yao for 15 to 20 minutes a game, or less. Yao needs to stay below 40 minutes a game, and I think CWEbb would be a better backup center than Scola or Mutumbo. Also, if CWebb is playing backup center, then we don't have to use Scola there anymore and we can actually START him and give him 30 plus minutes a game considering he is our best power forward on the team. Chuck could then come off the bench without everyone worrying that he will be in there with Deke and us having no offense from the two of them. With Chuck and CWebb, we would keep in some offense and outside shooting in the big spot while still having a rebound and defensive force in play. I would love the combination of Yao/Scola playing for 35 minutes a game and CWebb/Hayes playing the other 13 minutes a game at those two positions. That would solidify us up there so that we can concentrate on the point guard position. As far as the 3 position is concerned, all Ricky boy Adelman has to do is to start Bonzi and bring Shane off the bench, and that will be strenghtened up as well.
Yes. He is best in Adleman's offense. Webber can get minutes as PF or C, and he can pass the ball well. Should provide immediate help to the team.
Yes i'll take him. C-Webb is familiar with RA's system and he can be Yao's understudy. Other than Yao, we lack players who can score inside. Deke and Hayes are never going to be an offensive threat. Scola showed flashes of brilliance, but we can't rely on him and Yao to do all the scoring down low every game. I say its time for the rockets to think about making major personnel changes. T-mac, MJ and SF3 are players that should be dealt.
Before, I would say no, but since we'll always have a hustling defensive presence(Chuck, Scola, Mutombo) to compensate I'll go for it as long as he can show that he's in good enough condition to handle the wear and tear of the season for around 15-25 mpg. No doubt we'll be much smoother offensively, especially the bench.
