The league-wide increase in back2back games will place a premium on the quality of depth, which militates in favor of the Rox keeping Kenny Thomas. I also think it favors Dallas and Sacramento, and punishes LA, which is fine with me. I'd like to see Rudy take advantage of back2back games by shifting some of the minutes to the non-starters, whoever they may be: Rice/Boki; KT/ Griff/MoTay; Cato/Ming. At least initially, the differential in production between the "starter" and bench players will not be significant. I'd rather see fresh legs diving after balls.
If you want to see great action and a lot of games everynight, just buy NBA league pass on Direct TV or digital cable...you get 4 to 10 games EVERY night! There are so many games, its hard to decide which game you want to watch!
Well, that is not always possible. For one, I have digital cable and my cable company does NOT offer league pass. They did a few years ago and then stopped. So I am out of luck. Secondly, perhaps people don't have the disposable funds to pay for league pass. I would pay for it if I could get it but I can't. Some people even if it is offered might not be able to pay. Nevertheless, either way, if you can't get League Pass or can't pay for it, the new TV deal is the next best thing. Chris
They will get more coverage yet not as much exposure, if that makes any sense. There is still a huge number of people who don't even have basic cable that the NBA will not reach now. I think the number is around 50% but don't quote me on that. os
2001/2 Back-to-Backs November: 3/4 L/W 8/9 W/L 19/20 L/W 30/Dec 1 L/L December: 3/4 L/L 8/9 L/L January: 15/16 L/L 18/19 W/L 21/22 L/L 31/Feb 1 L/L February: 20/21 L/W March: 2/3 W/L 12/13 W/W 18/19 L/L April: 4/5 L/L 8/9 L/L 11/12 W/L 16/17 L/L We went from 18 back-to-backs last year to 21 this year. The change is due to Thursday nights being "reserved" for national TV games. A 17% increase is a lot, but not so much as to significantly change plans. There is a separate thread on the back-to-backs (which also covers 3 or more consecutive days off): http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37985 We went 9/36 = .250 in B2B games last year.
Na, NBA League Pass is a fan's dream. Can't wait to shell over another wad of money to the boys at AT&T Cable.
Hopefully, with the new TV contract we won't have to listen to Bill Walton. God I can't stand to listen to him.
i was hoping the same thing OT. Does anybody know who ABC/ESPN have lined up to do games? I am really looking forward to getting to listen to some new commentators. I would also love it if they signed on Dick Stockton. I will always remember him as the voice of the NBA in the '80s, and I enjoyed getting to listen to him again last year. I don't know why they would sign on Bill Walton, I have never ever heard anybody make a positive comment about his skills as a commentator. It blows my mind that he is still around.
You are not going to like it but Walton is scheduled to be ESPN/ABC's #1 game color announcer. He will do ABC Sundays and ESPN Wednesdays. Not sure if it is "official" yet but that's all I hear. Chris
