Well, the last time the Rockets got rid of a 1st year player(Dickerson) for a rookie(Francis), the proven young player was a roleplayer who ended up out of the league in a few seasons.

Jesus Christ, don't you know that facts don't matter to DaDakota?

Don't let your "facts" get in the way of his rant.

    DD,

I was wrong/ Dickerson for Francis wasn't the last trade.

The last one was Spanoulis(2006-07) for Scola(rookie), though Scola was drafted in a previous draft.

We all know how that turned out.

I did not question your fanhood in the first place!
I point out that the team needs more than good role players. We need some defensive players who can score a little.
Gasol lite players that are better on D. did I say that? Players who can fill the C and PF spot. I would definitely keep Hill over Bud right now. Saw what the Lakers did? More than clogging the paint I think.
I've had enough of shooters, offensive or defensive specialists

watched the finals did you huh? with brooks and martin how do you start bud in the future? just wow
He is a good bench player and likable. Had his moments. We need more. If we can keep him. Good. DID I SAY we should definitely include him in the deal with Randolph and the pick. NO. I meant we should think about it.

Contenders improve their starters first and then go to the bench. Not the other way.

And teams that pronounce every pale second round schmuck the next Larry Bird, and ergo untouchable, get laughed at on the internet.

Come on, you are not doing apples to apples, you are reaching for stuff instead of commenting on what this was about, trading a quality rookie player to move up in the draft. Even the Francis scenario, we knew what we were getting, and he was the number 2 pick in the draft, so if we are getting Turner, then yes, I am all for it.

VSpan was leaving, he quit, and we knew Scola was coming, and he was HARDLY an unproven rookie.

LOL - at people completely missing the point and leaping to conclusions about what I think Chase will be.

I don't know what Chase will develop into, neither do any of you, that is the point.

He is already pretty good, let's see if he can get even better.

Is he Kobe, is he Larry? LOL - please.....certainly not yet. ;)

Let's just hope he gets to be the best he can be......I think he has all star talent, but how hard will he work? Does he have the mindset to dominate?

Just keep him, and find out just how high his ceiling is, and when he gets to it, make a decision about whether that is what you want as an organization.

Usually in year 3 a player is what he is......let's see what happens by then....

Trade redundant pieces that have peaked, or assets that you have in picks etc.

    Shane Battier
    Jared Jeffries
    Chuck Hayes
    Trevor Ariza
    David Andersen

    Assets:

    Llull
    Luenan
    Newley

    Picks:

    14 this year
    Knicks 2011
    Knicks 2012
    Our pix in 11 & 12

We have plenty to offer to move up in the draft, including CASH $$$$$$$$, no need to include one of the best rookies the Rockets have had since Yao Ming.

Black Mamba, move over for the pasty White Cobra !!!

What makes Scola a proven rookie, because he was an international star? Spanoulis was a proven international star, also.

Scola had played years of professional basketball, he was much more proven as a professional than any rookie coming into the league.

I am still trying to figure out what you are saying, what do you think Chase will become?

Do you think he is worth trading for say the 6th pick?

    And if so, why?

If the choice was between chase and martin, i probably move martin first. I probably only move chase if he's part of a package to get an established guy like jefferson.

Why does that make Scola any more proven than Spanoulis who played professional ball from 1999-2005 before coming to the Rockets.

International ball doesn't make them any more proven than NCAA experience. If anything, the international players seem to struggle lead their teams to a championship compared to the players that came out of college.

DD, I see Chase becoming an NBA starter at some point in his career, he should have a heck of a sophmore season as will Hill and Jermaine Taylor (who I think will really surprise everyone next year). Chase has one of the sweeter strokes on the team, he's athletic with a nice BBIQ and is the perfect type of player when surrounded with star players as he will make teams pay for cheating off of him.

Is he worth trading for the 6th pick? In my opinion it all depends on who's there and how much Morey values whoever falls to the 6th pick. If the rockets feel that either Monroe, Cousins, Johnson or Favors are potential all-star types and that they could slowly start to build there team around them, then I wouldn't hesitate in making Chase a part of the deal to move up to 6th to aquire that type of rare player. It would be painful in giving up Chase or Hill in that type of move, but in Morey I trust. You win championships with All-Stars and those types of players are the most difficult to aquire.

I have no data, but it seems the failure rate of the college players vs the International players is about the same.

You get Kwame, you get Milicic, you get Kobe, you get Dirk.

But Spanoulis was leaving, he was not going to play here, so we got rid of a malcontent, it is not even CLOSE to the same as trading Chase for a draft pick, and you know it.

Also, you failed to answer my question, what do you think Chase's ceiling is, that is what this thread is about, let's hear your thoughts.

We don't have the Knicks pick in 2011.
Luenan (sp?) and Newley are not assets in any sense, unless you also want to include the Rockets Dancers. If so, I may have my own offer

If you're keeping Bud, I'd trade Battier OR Ariza, not both, and Hayes OR Jeffries.

    Oh, hell no!

Martin is a star player at a decent contract. He isn't quite an all-star, but he's close enough that he's the kind of player we target. Hopefully, we have two starters like Martin and three all-stars, or three and two.

CBud is a maybe compared to Martin, more so than Cousins is compared to him.
