I tried to add bynum's gamertag to my friends list but it said his list was full. Must have got bombarded with friend requests after revealing his gamertag.

I think its a bit like Yao situation, overhyped! Although Yao is way ahead of him and consistent every season putting up good numbers but been injured most of his NBA career and never really been the force inside. Bynum has not been consistent and he started to put up good numbers until he got injured. Overrated right now? YES!! But nobody knows how he will turn out for the upcoming seasons. IMO i think he will just put up decent numbers like 15pts n 9-10rbs a season, especially with Kobe being in the team.

Offensively, he is very talented. But how is his defense?

Young players with potential seem to be the biggest knee jerk reaction for fans. These players are over-valued; over-hyped, over-scrutiinized, etc. etc.

Bynum had excellent numbers. But he also played with Kobe, who draws double and triple teams. Bynum, like some have said is potentially an All-Star level talent.

But, super stars have the ability to put the team on their back and win games. Bynum will have his chance. In the NBA injuries are a part of the game, at that time Bynum will show the world if he can carry a team.

It's not about whether Bynum will be better than Yao. But whether a healthy Bynum would be enough to help Lakers get the ring. They would have got it if Bynum's healthy last season.

Well, adding a 7ft skilled young big into a roster that already made final last season is always scary. On the other hand, 2 out of 4 seasons, Tmac and Yao were healthy enough to play playoff against a team of similar caliber (Mavs and Jazz), and couldn't get the job done.

It's all about proven track, Tmac and Yao are still 2nd round virgins.

The guy will put up some big numbers.

I believe this to be, not because he is a talented up-and-coming star or anything like that. The Lakers do have Pau Gasol on their team. People are going to lag off of Bynum because Gasol is a more immediate offensive threat.

Not many teams are going to be able to defend two 7 fters in the post. They will throw double teams at those two all day, but Gasol will receive most of the attention. Resulting in open looks for Bynum.

It will be awhile before teams can adjust to those two.

Very overrated. He only has a half-decent body of work for 35 games. They weren't even dominant numbers. He was putting up 13/10.

I'm a HUGE believer in Bynum, but whoever made that list must be smoking crack. I truly believe Bynum will deserve a high place on the top 50 list, but some of the players behind him, especially Tony Parker, make no sense at all.

Some people can't distinguish between right now and what a player might be in the future. Bynum isn't there yet.

Would you say that Bynum is a better player than Tracy McGrady, Tony Parker, Baron Davis, or even Ron Artest, going into the 08/09 season? In terms of potential, he would trump them because they're all either in their prime or on the decline. But going into this season? T-Mac is a much better player than Bynum is right now, I think that's beyond dispute.

Agreed, but I pointed out Tony Parker because that was the most insane oversight IMO. Tracy and Ron Ron (when his head is on straight) are both better. While I think BD is overrated, he is also still better than Bynum. sook, you are right that Brandon Roy should be ahead of him. Roy is one of the most overlooked players in the league by NBA fans.

If Bynum adds to what he did the last 2 months before his injury, then he will have earned a place in the high echelon. While his trajectory is very much on course, he ain't reached the clouds just yet.

Overrated as hell. He hasn't done anything and people proclaim him a top 4 center in the league.

I don't think Bynum's that great, but if I had a chance to draft him in my fantasy league, I would do so in a heartbeat if Yao, Howard, and Camby are off the board.
