    I grew up in Southeast Houston. We all called a bayou a "by-yo." As in Sims By-Yo. I don't give a damn about how the Cajuns pronounce it. (just don't tell my Cajun brother-in-law!)

    (doesn't by-yo look pretty lame, by the way, yo?)

    I've never even heard it pronounced "by-yo." Didn't even know that pronunciation existed.
