I agree, because of the level of atheleticism in this day and age some of these short guys can really play big positions.

Though I still see him having problems with teams that go big at the 4 like Dirk, Pau, Jermaine O'neal, and so on. He's strong but they can just shot right in his face with relative ease.

    yep.
I can see this being Yao, Scola, Landry as a 3 man rotation in the front court for many years to come

This Purdue articles speaks volumes about the kids work ethic. He's another Yao workhorse in the making. He works as hard as Yao does to get better. Which means, the guy will keep improving and getting better year after year.

IMO, Scola is easily 6'10". He's beginning to remind me a bit of Kevin McHale, doing everything on the court, making an impact, scoring, defense, very, very intelligent player, while not being your classic athletic 4. Whoops, I was talking about Scola! Anyway, I think Landry is 6'8".

    Landry or Scola?

    15 foot face up jumper?
    I prefer Landry

back to basket in the post
Scola has way more moves at this point but Landry is going to develop. Landry relies too much on his athleticism. Scola uses his brain and feels the opponent with his body, doesn't have to rely on his athleticism. I prefer Scola with the ball in his hands posting up in the paint.

    Defense???
I prefer Scola because of his experience, moves, and leverage. Landry is still learning how to D up and does get out of position in the post against bigs. He recovers nicely but I think Scola is ahead of him here. Scola is the better team defender, smarter in his defensive movement and help.

    Rebounding??
About the same. Scola has the better fundamentals with the box out and actually has the strength to push guys back. Once again, Landry does it with sheer atheticism, jumping over and around guys.

    Finishing????
LOL, no question, Landry. However, Scola is a very effective finisher. Scola uses his quickness to get the shot off. Landry simply elevates and crams it.

    Running the break???
    Both.

    Handle??
I'd have to give that to Scola right now, although I think Landry can handle just fine and will handle just fine once he learns to control his engine enough to slow down just enough to be effective on the handle. He has so much adrenaline that he does almost everything out there at breakneck speed, which leaves his handle a little susceptible.

    Floor vision?
    Scola. More experience.

    BBall IQ?
Scola. More experience. But I can see Landry coming from Purdue as being very bball savvy once he gets more comfortable.

    Passing?
Both are good. Scola has the advantage because he sees the floor better.

    FT stroke?
I prefer Landry even though he's shooting lower percentage.

The combination of Deke for D and Scola for O is gonna cause us not to miss Yao as much as some of our past teams would. Scola has the ability and is proving he is a go to guy offensively. He can kill his opponent one on one or has the ability to pass out with the double effectively, and he has the ability to move and find space off a play that McGrady has created. And Landry is coming..........fast. Landry already has the ability to find the seam in the D and shoot the open 15 footer effectively. And he's got some power post moves based on his athleticism. If Landry learns Scola's dipsy doodle moves and then increases his range out to 3, that kid is gonna be a beast to deal with.

Ya, he is 6-8 3/4 " which round up to 6-9. So if he was 6-9 3/4 he would be a legit 6-10 player and everyone would be happy? LOL. Oh about the short hands, if he have two more inch reach he would be much better? You are either a good player or you are not, size is just a general ball park figure to be used to evaluate then players first get into the NBA.

I wouldn't mind if we brought in a decent/good backup C for Yao. Deke isn't a guarantee to come back next year, and even though he's the Ageless One, everybody has their limits. I think that and maybe another lock-down defender like Battier are the Rockets 2 biggest needs right now.

Rockets don't really need to make a move. Morey asked Deke to resign and if he does, that will be good. If he doesn't then we need to get another 7 footer. I think we should just go back and get Jack Tsladkis back from Greece. There are no premium big men coming out of college we have a shot at. I mean I'd love to get Roy Hibbert but really don't think we have a realistic shot. Maybe I'd make a move to improve our perimeter shooting outside of Battier and Head. But that's unlikely too.
