they should probably do that then and make him a playmaking wing, because he reminds me of Brandon Jennings when at PG
This...without even watching much this confirms a lot. This is the hard stuff, if you move a player and let them do what they want they will magically look alright. That doesn't fix or solve any of the underlying issues. I know we have the wrong coach but he won't be the coach when this team is capable of winning. These young players NEED to struggle and they need to adapt, grow, and move past it. We can't say we are fine with developing players and then change course a quarter into the season after making years defining changes and decisions to the franchise months before. You have to see it through and stick with the plan. It doesn't mean you don't change or adapt but this is not that.
Are you not looking at the same data? The lineups with Green and without Theis and Wood seem to hold their own in comparison to even the newest lineup that we’re all enamored with that has Garrison Mathews in his place.
Yes, but those were very small sample size. I hope when he comes back and KPJ is healthy we can actually get rolling between the two - at least with efficiency, because while I see everyone else doing ok on D, other than Green, he is just a major liability there at this time.....IMHO he is not ready to be a starter, until he understands where to be on both sides of the ball. He looks lost too often on defense for me......I want him to watch and learn from Ego for a time.... DD
Theis just needs time to develop. Hopefully Sengun won't be taking too many of his minutes from here on out.
Not learning to play D by watching from bench. Better to surround him with good defenders who can hit 3ball. Green can work on his defensive technique in offseason.
Not saying it's an excuse for his poor defense but everybody knew before the season that defense was a big question mark due in large part to strength and some of it due to technique. So to act like he should be benched due to defense is silly. As you said most of it will come in the offseason with increased strength and training technique and some of it is due to the fact that he is a rookie too. All that to say he needs to be better on that end but it's no reason to deny him valuable playing time
