Because TMac is primary distrubutor of the ball.

Rafer is declining, and is probably not going to get better.

I love having Rafer on the team....as a backup !

Bringing down the ball to the other court is not an easy task. We need a proven ball handler to do that, and that I believe Rafer is doing a great job. Tmac can NOT do that for 48 hours and produce a high shooting % due to fatigue.

Say no to C webb. I can't image C Webb play with J-Ho in the same team again. Can we trade Jalen Rose to the Rox? :D

Which is why you play JL3, or Head and allow them to do it.

We can do this all day....

CD, make it happen! There's really no way we're worse off with stevie here. He doesn't have problems bringing the ball up the floor, finishes around the basket a million times better than o-fer's floater, is a better rebounder, and as good a defender. Plus, no one's ever going to double him so he'll just kill guys off the dribble. Plus, we'll have gotten T-mac for basically Cuttino and Kelvin Cato!

SF3 would be nice pickup but ONLY as a bench player, that way he can be as creative as he wants/take as many shots as he want/be the focal point of the offense. However, SF3 trying to limit his game and playing third-fiddle behind T-Mac and Yao would be even worse than Rafer.

If we get SF3, it will so that he would become our "Mr. Instant Offense" off the bench, not to start.

A second unit of SF3, Bonzi, and Snyder sounds mighty appetizing and might give us that requisite depth to allow our starters to play less minutes and not worry about blowing leads every time Yao/McGrady get a breather.

weber's buyout is final. I think he would be great addition to the bench. Sure he is slow etc- but he can rebound, Pass and Score. For the price we will pay ( close to nothing)- I will take him before anyone like NJ pounces on this opportunity.

In such a senario Francis would have to swear on a stack of Bibles that he would pass to Yao and would play the role of playmaker more so than shooter :p

This sounds like common sense! But the question is will all the parties go for it?
    I say go for it!!

Steve could probably fill the Mike James void that seems to bother so many people. His willingness to be in the backseat would be paramount. I'd personally rather see him play with Rafer than instead of Rafer. For all the crap he gets from posters, especially ones with the initials DD, He does do a good job running the offense (yes, he does tend to get out of control when he feels a need to add offense, a la Antoine Walker).

Knicks officials and the agent for Steve Francis denied a report that they were discussing a contract buyout. “That’s never been discussed,” Isiah Thomas, the team president, said in response to the report in Tuesday’s New York Post. Jeff Fried, who represents Francis, called the report “a false statement” and said that buyout talks “have never even been contemplated.” Francis is making $15 million this season and is owed $34.5 million over the next two seasons. Speculation about Francis’s future has gone on for months, because he has a large contract and has been an awkward fit next to Stephon Marbury. The speculation grew last week when Francis left the team to rehabilitate his sore right knee in Houston. Thomas said he expected Francis to return once the knee was ready. “If it’s up to me, he’d do it tomorrow,” Thomas said, adding, “We definitely want him back.”

Why would I compare Webber and Juwan this season!!?? What are you trying to say?? Make your judgment.

    Webber - 11ppg 8.3rpg .387fg% .643ft%
    Howard - 8ppg 6.1rpg .457fg% .908ft%

It all has to do with what is currently between Stevie's ears.

*IF* he could come here and take on a role similar to the role that Stackhouse fills in Dallas, then fine.

But you have to remember, Toyota Center is the house Stevie built ;) and I for one would doubt that he would be able to accept being a mere role player on this team.

Doesn't matter though - SF back in Houston will never happen.

Agreed, in a Stackhouse role, especially if Bonzi can't cut it in the next month or so...

T-Mac played D in Toronto, so it was always there, lame example. In fact, the only season he didn't play D was 03-04 when the whole team threw in the towel. 85% of the league has the physical tools to be a great defender, and I don't see these tools being put to good use outside a few.

Stevie being a competent defender is the equivalent of Rafer having an effective floater. I'm not talking about "what if", that man was never a good defender anywhere.

I never thought this was a good idea until I read this post. If Steve would come off the bench I think it would be an incredible move.

    Having a second rotation of

    Francis
    Head/Snyder
    Bonzi/Snyder
    Hayes/Novak
    Howard/Novak

when you want to run and go small would be nice and possibly the answer to the team's offense while Yao/McGrady are resting.

If he comes on the cheap and buys into that roll I don't see any reason not to do it.
