    Steve's problems are thus:
Not good enough to be the 1st option on a contender
Not good enough to be both the primary playmaker and the 2nd option (not good enough to manage both roles)
Not big enough to be a shooting guard (and thereby have fewer playmaking duties)

But on this team, with TMac and Yao, Steve would be the 3rd option on a contender (or maybe 4th behind Bonzi, if healthy). Being father down in the offense, he could relax and look to make plays more, thereby improving as a PG. Plus, with Alston, Steve could move to SG when other teams go small (like the Suns and the Mavs, who just happen to be our biggest challenges). Steve "Franchise" was a false promise. Steve Francis, on this team, would be a major piece of the puzzle.

so far, nope. he will probably stay on the team until he comes back from injury. at that point, since they don't want him in the rotation, they may resume working on a buy-out.

It will probably near the deadline...but i think everyone fully expects NY to sever the ties with SF...they obviously have no plan to use him in the rotation...if he comes back...we could only gain from such a lost cost acquisition.

It's a fact the Knicks aren't going to do SF a favor and pay the whole $48MM for him to leave. That is ridiculous. It's also likely they don't want him back on the active roster. My guess is something will be worked out.

Adding SF during the mid-season as our PG help could be a huge boost to the team.

They could wait until AFTER the deadline for players to play in the playoffs passes.

Steve will have to take a little bit less up front if he wants to be released.

Today's money is worth more than tomorrows....let's see how it plays out.

Looks a bit like a standoff between the Knicks and Francis, but neither side has an interest in the standoff becoming public.

70 % of you want us to sign Francis agian, really. I would rather have Moochie on this team, really. Not because Mooch is very good. Stevie would just not fit in. I can't believe this has even got this much run.

yeah, obiously seeing how things being handle in NY by thomas (ex/ brown's situation), the knicks are trying to pay only partial remainder of the money to SF. I doubt we will see SF free from the knicks this season. maybe during the summer where knicks will try to trade SF again.

SF's value is nothing but a serviceble backup PG or SG. no way knicks want to pay him the full contract. but contract is a binding agreement between two parties so knicks better pay up and stop being cheap.

if he does get waived. I would definately want SF back. he can split the mins with alston. out backup pg kill bill and lucas3 is not reliable when it comes playoff time and we solely missed a good backup pg.

Man I hope we get Francis back, b/c I bought his throwback Houston jersey on an impulse buy at the Nike store in New York. It hasn't been worn since we traded him.

You don't think SF is better than any PG on our team? It would be a 35 game cheap rental for a championship run. It would be on him to fit in our system, which he's familiar with. SF is not the incumbent this time, it's JVG and a very successful Rockets team. Not only would he be below JVG in the pecking order, he would be behind Yao, Tracy, Shane, Luther, etc and he would understand this before signing. Keep in mind he would be coming from a Knicks experience that has been the worst of his career by far. It would be a lifeboat from the team he never wanted to leave.

I think the Rockets would get Steve's best without the rough edges and it would be a win-win for everybody.

A humbled Steve Francis would be a tremendous asset to the team.

I'm sure the Rockets will take that into account.

Totally agree, if he a half season rental, SF3 will come back and have something to prove, a more humble more controlled Francis would be an awesome addition to the team

    Music to my ears.
Yao and Stevie are still buddies. Yao just needs to dial Steive's up and that will be it.
We are guard hungry right now. If we could snatch Stevie for the playoff, that is just freaking sweet. I think Steive is mature enough now, and he will want to be a part of making a run at the ring. His skill set completments our roster perfect. If we get Steive, I say we immediately explore trading options to get Nazr here by packaging Bonzi and Sura.
