Clearly you were not witness to the seasons he was with the Rockets then. Because if you were you would know that he is NOT a point guard and lost more games for us then he won with his dribble off the foot move to the basket. Oh he was good for a highlight reel play once a game but that didn't do much to get us into the playoffs now did it? If he is so dang good then why has he been traded three times in the past three years?

I suggest you take some time to review the games from the seasons when the Rockets had Steve. They weren't pretty to say the least. Its not the heart that worries me but the mental aspect of the game, which he clearly does not have.

Just heard on local radio (103.3FM) Mavs has admitted that they are interested in pursuing Webber. Would that change the perception/value of Webber in the eyes of Rox fans/management?

Mavs are relying on Dampier, we don't.

i've kept up w/francis since his departure from houston and he was still selfish in orlando ... but after seeing how he plays this year, it's become quite clear he's made himself a role player. I don't see him tryin to go one on one nearly as much as he did with us bak in his rookie year or anything, tho he can still get decent shots with it at times. I think he's a role player right now but I know for sure that he can be much better than that. I also must agree with whoever said Francis played his best ball under JVG. I just hope his attitude or w/e wont clash with JVG all over again. I'd love to see Francis bak in H-town.

Hey I have a question. Who knows if Franchise would be up to this, but could the Rockets sign him to a 10-day contract?

I mean, what could you lose? There's only one real way to find out if acquiring him would work. Why not sign him temporarily and let him come off the bench and see if he can contribute to the team? If it's a disaster, oh well, it's not like we have to keep him for the whole year. It's a 10-day contract! If the Rockets sort of liked what he was doing but not totally, but thinks he should get some more time, we could give him another 10-day contract...

Remember this? Check out the Steve Francis sighting at halftime (about the 4 minute mark). Interesting.... ;)

I would love to have SF3 back in place of Alston! I think that would be a huge upgrade.

Well I guess I don't want Stevie back if it brings back the YOF and SOF arguments that almost drove me away from this board several years ago.

I, for one, would love to have Steve Francis back. Despite his failings, he always played hard, which was one of the worries about TMac when he came here. SF was one of the few guys that acutally stepped up his game when we went to the playoffs in '04. Sure, he dribbles too much and can sometimes be selfish, but he's still a good player and despite some spats with JVG, he's not a disruption in the locker room or anything.

I think too many people bashing SF don't remember that we basically traded SF for TMac. We certainly got the better end of that trade, but it wasn't as lopsided as some people would like to believe. At the end of that last year in Houston, SF really showed what he was capable of. Seriously, if three years ago we thought we could get TMac, SF, and Yao on the same team people would be talking championship. IMO SF hasn't gotten that much worse since we traded him. His stock has gone down because he's been on one crap team after another, much like how TMac's value dropped from being on the Magic for so long. We got a steal on TMac because he was on a crap team and SF was on a half decent team. Now, we should capitalize on this next opportunity and get SF back for cheap.

I don't know if Steve Francis is capable of knowing and accepting his role. We need our point guard to bring the ball up, hand it off to T-Mac or Yao, and then find his spot for an open shot. No doubt Steve's athleticism and penetrating ability would be a nice offensive bonus, but I don't know if he's capable of taking on a reduced role and leaving the touches/ball pounding to T-Mac & Yao.

Well, I think he'll take the role rather than be benched. I'm not sure if he would even be the starting point guard with us. I'm just hoping that after playing for such losing teams he'll be willing to come off the bench for us. We could drop Snyder and Bonzi for Francis and it'd still be good IMO. Besides, with Curry, Richardson, and Marbury on the Knicks, he's basically their third option. The only problem with us is that he might have to come off the bench rather than start.

Think about it, our guard lineup when healthy would be McGrady, Alston, Sura, Francis. That is downright scary in terms of talent. Of course our front court would still be a little mediocre, but solid with Battier, Howard, Padgett and Hayes.

I don't seriously believe Francis will ever return to Houston, but.....

If Steve did return, he would be doing that skip prance celebration run back down the court all game long if the opposing team gave him the looks that they willingly give Rafer.

Why in the world would snyder and bonzi be involved in this when the only way we get SF is to have him take a buyout. Snyder and Bonzi make a third of what SF makes so a trade would never work. More importantly, the Knicks are looking to get rid of him for nothing anyway. If he is a role player then he would do okay for this team, if he tries to be Stevie Franchise again, keep him away.

Steve Francis? NEVER! JVG does not like Francis - never did at any point.

Steve never turned into a 'player' just a 'playa.'

Steve is a bad basketball player - pure and simple. He's not what we're looking for here. Webber? I'd take a flyer...
