I think it’s still the same principle though the buyout amount is different. Ariza’s remain prorated salary for the year is the proposed buyout amount. If Washington really wants to play him then they have no reason to buyout his contract. But if they don’t want to play him + he wants to try to chase a ring they could pay him the full remainder of his contract (and get back whatever the team he goes to pays him). Basically on most buyouts I believe the player always gets they’re full amount. The only scenarios where I think players leave money on the table is when they have multiple years left and the team negotiates a lower buyout if the player wants out bad enough.
Who is his agent? Sometimes buy outs are practically favors to an agent. The team let's the aging vet who isn't in their future plans out of their crappy situation and the agent gets them a meeting with a free agent later. etc.
Man...Im really disappointed neither Luc nor Bradley got bought out. Man, Morey, I know you're great but I wish you wouldnt talk so big sometimes and get my hopes up.
