BTW, since I am looking at SUVs as well I was wondering how insurance rates differed when you had those types of vehicles.
get a camry from '03-'06 don't get a SUV, the gas prices have increased by $0.50 since new years, and it's already accelerating camry is perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids, or accord, but camry is roomier imo
Well the MPG on the SUVs I am looking at are very comparable to a lot of cars. Like I said, I am not looking at behemoths like Suburbans or Tahoes or Hummers.
The figures I looked at on fueleconomy.gov and other websites show that the CR-V's numbers are very comparable to the Camry, Accord, and other cars mentioned in this thread. The Murano I mentioned as well would have me spending about $35 more per month on fuel when compared to those models but it is less than $80+/month that comes with other SUVs.
are you sure your budget is $12000? you're talking about a murano here, what kind of murano can you get with $12000.... camry is enough bro, i know it's your money, but CRV or RAV4 does not offer that much more space or 'utility'
I agree 100%...They really are small SUV's...also the resale value of an Accord or Camry is alot higher then the suv counterparts... I'd go with the Accord, it's stylish and sporty...i think they are more attractive looking then a Camry Chilcutt
$12000 is my down payment not my budget, read the initial post again. If I can't get a Murano, and I am not even sure that is what I want yet, with $12000 down in this economy then something is wrong there.
oh dang, my bad this board typically is the frugal type, i totally misinterpreted 'new' for 'used' and 7-12k down as budget sorry pun anyway, after rereading the OP, and knowing luxury isn't your thing, then go with the camry, accord, altima both camry and accord are new models, whereas the altima is a bit dated
Not that it is a deal breaker but do Camrys or Toyotas in general come with auxiliary inputs for mp3 players? I remember shopping for my 2005 Toyota and could not find them then but they were just being installed in cars back then. My girlfriend's 08 Altima has one as does my sister's 05 Cadillac SRX. Where does Toyota put those inputs?
I took a look at a Honda Element online and the back seat doesn't look big enough for a baby car seat. Is it?
Funny you should ask. I gave up on repairing my 95 and just got a 2009 Camry (used w/ 6k miles for $16,9 FYI...). It's in the middle console, the bottom storage compartment has one in the back. There's a cut out on the side to thread your audio cable so you don't have to open and close the compartment all the time. And there's slim side pockets on both sides of the console, seemingly just for mp3 players. The only thing that annoys me is that the cut out is only on the right side.
WOW! You paid $16,900 for a used 2009 Toyota Camry with only 6000 miles??? Here in Arkansas I cannot find one with that few miles on it for less than $20,000. I'm looking in bigger cities too like Little Rock and Memphis although you could combine those two and still not have a city the size of Houston. LOL!
This really worries me about Nissan models. I'm looking for something very reliable but i haven't heard about any troubles they had regarding that issue. My girlfriend has a 2008 Altima and hasn't had any trouble out of it but it is less than a year old so......
Well I got mine in a small town at a Nissan dealership. I don't know if those circumstances helped but just some more info for you. The asking was around 20k and we negotiated down. Granted my family has bought from the same salesman before. BTW, I used autotrader.com to search nearby, it's a great tool to avoid driving from dealership to dealership and talking w/ the sharks. When I searched nearby my area, they were all asking around 20k too. Good luck!
You get better mileage in the 4 cylinder Accord than the CR-V 4 cylinder (and maybe more power, which is sad). The Accord V6 gets about the same mileage as the 4 cylinder CR-V if I recall correctly. The Murano is ugly as sin.
