FYI : I used to buy a ton of stuff from buy.com and never recall having a problem with them. I've recently bought a few items from them and still haven't any issue with them. I guess it's just bad luck - for example, most people love Costco, but when trying to get an XBox 360, I had the same problem wizkid83 basically did. I kept getting my order pushed back further and further until I finally gave up waiting and cancelled my order. All that time they were still selling the Xbox 360 on their site.
I would but I set everything up on it already. Too lazy to return it, so I'll just take the lost on this one. Oh well, at least it's new and not a refurbished one.
Try to get some price match if you used your credit card to buy. Paying 100% more than what something is at retail generally warrants a return in my book though.
One quick thing regarding Apple, I hate them. They're doing the same thing with the MP3 players that they've done with computers, which is making everything proprietory. I would've bought an IPod if it's compatible with services like Yahoo music, MSN music or Napster but they don't, plus they don't play wmv files, which is a very popular format for Chinese music downloads (not sure why). Also I-tunes doesn't work with anything besides the IPOD and I refuse to tie up my future purchases of players like that all. All other MP3 makers are compatible with all the other different services. I've bought Creative, Samsung, (cancelling an order for M$ product) MP3 players but I will never ever buy an IPod and hope they get screwed in the MP3 market just like they got screwed in the computer market (till the recent resurgence as the trendy tech computer). /End Rant P.S. Ipod is the best MP3 player out there, it just kills me that they're doing things that pisses me off.
Thats the reason I never got one. It never made sense. Being able to drag and drop MP3's into my Archos player is beautiful and seamless. The iPOD requires me to sell my soul to do anything. I can't believe America puts up with it. Brainwashing...
The only reason I have an Ipod and not a Zune is because the Ipod has more accessories for it. For example things like gym case, and speaker kits, etc..
Woot has the 30GB Zune today for 84.99 plus 5.00 in shipping. Buy 2 and you'll get a free travel pack that they value at 99.00 i believe.
Buy.com has screwed me in almost the exact same way in the past. Put in my order, never came through. I'm talking months of "backorder", too. To be fair, I did get the Flecktones triple CD (Little Worlds) for 80% off thanks to a screw up preorder deal that they honored. That was a while back, though. I don't really trust them much anymore. Tiger Direct is a better place for high end buys, in my experience. Only other thing I can add here is that Zunes suck. For iHaters only. Evan
Oh no, don't get me wrong here. I'm not trying to undersell the Zune brand since I don't know much about them, and truth be told, i'm the owner of an Ipod that crapped out after three months and had to deal with the frustration of Apple loop-holeing their way out of covering a manufacturer’s defect. All i'm saying is i'm a bit surprised to see the Zune brand trying to take on the gigantic Ipod brand with the same prices. Ipod's are so universally popular you would think a relatively new or unknown brand like Zune wouldn't be able to compete on that level.
