If you take Ming or Amare and put them on the Heat, the heat would be alot closer to the playoffs than they are now. It will always be a big mans game. You could take the Kobe's,McGrady's, or all the Paul Pierce clones you want, but give me Shaq or Tim Duncan and my team isn't struggling for a playoff spot, its fighting for title contention.

It's accurate. Butler has won 3 consecutive and 4 total.

Caron Butler was a great college player who was hyped as the next Paul Pierce. He was projected as a top five pick, and much like his NBA comparison he slipped to the 10th pick in the draft. Why shouldn't he be a little mad about being picked lower than anticipated? Aren't there alot of players who say the whole,"X Team will regret not taking me when they had a chance. I believe the beloved to many Rashard Lewis said this.

As for being in the ROY race, he has a legitimate complaint. For a rookie he is helping his team and performing well. Unfortunately the Heat's road is well short of the playoffs and has been for some time. Unlike Amare and Yao whose teams are fighting each other for the last playoff spot in the West. Caron has replaced Zo as the main scoring option on his team. Whereas Amare and Yao have been integrated into the offense and both of their teams are making a run towards the playoffs.

If I were in Caron Butler's shoes I'd feel a little angry about the bias being showed to Yao and Amare, but those two are at another level right now. If this were 2000, Butler would probably win hands down. However, he came out with two great rookie sensations. All he can do is continue to play well and not worry about any other hardware other than the Larry O'Brien Trophy and a Championship ring.

Butler gets 7 minutes per game more than Yao does, is the main option, plays in the East and scores just about 2 more points than Yao and Stoudamire. His efficiency overall should be much lower than Yao and Stoudamire. He is no better than those two. Why complain about not being in the race when you are destined for the Bronze medal, which means jack in ROY race? Even getting the silver medal is meaningless for ROY. Stupid.

Mind you. All in the East. Even Gooden could do that if he was in the East from start.

[Caron] "They took us right out of the picture, but I'd like to let my game do the talking."
[Response] Correct. Your game has produced 15 points per game on 13 shots at a 40% FG shooting clip. Your game has talked you into about 4th or 5th in the ROY balloting.

[Caron] "Anybody who knows basketball is going to look at the big picture and see I'm the only one who has improved throughout the season."
[Response] So because you started out playing badly and improved you should get the award over two players who've played well since the beginning?

Caron probably shouldn't ponder any career that requires logic should basketball not work out for him :)

These statistical comparisons are all biased and pointless. Butler isn't a post player so naturally he won't have the double-doubles that Yao or Amare have. Butler will naturally have more steals and minutes. So comparing statistics is pointless.

As others have pointed out, though, the real query is who made the biggest impact on their team, and it's a tight race between Yao and Amare.

If the NBA has anything to do with it (and obviously they do), it will go to Yao.
