You guys need to stop now. RoyJones is probably not a racist. He's wrong in using all those stereotype foods, maybe he's trying to be funny. Yao does not like those stereotype foods you mentioned anyway. I read a lot of things about Yao. He likes soup, Shang Hai Bun, traditional chinese food that most Americans like, not some weird eel food you mentioned. I remember Yao saying he does not enjoy Steak, but he'll have it because he know it's good for building up his body.
speaking about food, if yall watched mark berman's visit to yao's home, you'll know what type of foods he really like. and im with rvpals about yao eating steak for his body building eventhough he doesnt really enjoy it.
Roy Jones, you need to think before you post. 1. Yao is not freaking Jwill, he only does whatever is best for the team. He's a great teammate that Rox does not have for a while. Don Nelson is certainly respectable. Imagine f!cking play Shaq & Duncan two games consecutive nights, it's no wishy washy performance. Tim Duncan is just as strong and physical as Shaq, I am not sure if either Duncan or Shaq can play non wishy washy when facing themselves in consecutive nights. Yao is human, he's going to get tire being bang on by Shaq all night, next night by Duncan. 2. It just shows Yao is quality guy. He knows his responsibility and he'll play his best when he plays with NT or the Rox. 3. By the way, most chinese don't like some of the stereotype foods you mention, such as the fresh water eel stewed with pork.
Although I do not believe the original poster had (racially demeaning intentions), I do definitely see how readers can construe those comments as being racist. If we reverse the situation and said something like Cato is fat. He should eat more cucumbers, squid, fish etc. instead of fried chicken, grits, and watermelons, would you think that it is racist? Lets all try to remember that the Rox are truly an international team with fans from all walks of life. As said, I dont think the initial poster intended to make a racial statement but lets just be extra cautious in order to prevent from offending anyone. Afterall, we all all part of the same Rox ball family...
What the heck are we talking about? Please... No one is going to bust Yao. Please do not be concerned.
Your guys need to know there are numerous styles of Chinese food. The majority of Chinese you see in the states are people from the southern part of China - Cantonese. They speak Cantonese which can NOT be understood by 90% of the mainland Chinese living north of Canton even though the language characters are the same. It is like northerners in the US having trouble with southern accent, but it is much worse. Plus, Cantonese are in average shorter than people from the north. The funny part is probably most Americans think Cantonese language is Chinese mandarin, and Cantonese represent the majority of Chinese, it is actually not. It is like people might think all Italian immigrants are from Sicily, but it is not the truth! Yao is from Shanghai which is far north of Canton. So he eats differently, he is taller, he does not understand Cantonese, and he does not understand dimsum. But I have to say dimsum tastes good though.
True, but when he goes there, all he ever orders is the watery rice gruel and fresh water eel stewed with pork. So I'm still trying to figure out why RoyJones brought up the "do you know who Roy Jones, Jr. is" bit. Is he saying that He's Roy Jones, Jr.? This thread is getting more bizarre with each post.
could you tell me what "the watery rice gruel and fresh water eel stewed with pork"is. I never heard this food in china.
His point: http://www.usopen-karate.com/news.asp?page_id=1 There is more than one US Open http://www.usopen.com/ http://www.soccertimes.com/facts/usa/usopencup.htm Other than that I want no part of your exchange. Just though I'd broaden horizons a bit. RoyJones: which class? I never bothered with point fighting, I prefer full contact but that's just me.
i'm going to translate roy jones concerns: the title of this thread is incomplete: he really meant to say: somebody bust a cap in yao's a$$, i'm so concerned!
