I assume it's a cameo or something because this is supposed to be an origination storyline, right?

In the books they had no problem using the Sith as enemies going forward, even the Emperor.

However, in the movies no since the force is really just having a lot of microorganisms in you, who knows anymore.

I haven't read any in over a decade so I have no idea what has been put out there in that time, but back in high school when I ate that crap up my favorite was the Timothy Zahn trilogy with Admiral Thrawn. Easily my favorite Star Wars based books...but I don't think they could do it because it picks up not long after Return of the Jedi so all the original actors are way too old now. Easily the best character from those books is the villain, though, so you could probably use him and dial all the other characters ages forward and make the true heros their kids or something.

The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn
    -Heir to the Empire
    -Dark Force Rising
    -The Last Command

These books were responsible for reviving Star Wars interest before the special edition movies came out.

    Also recommend the X-Wing series.

    I may look into these
The main issue I started having with the books were how
SkyWalker and Solo centric there were
Not only they always about that group but they were always right when everyone else was basically nothing

I figured it was a big universe. . . .stretch out the character base

What about Chewbacca? His fur has to be all grey now due to age.

The greatest thing about what could come out of this is a Monkey Island movie.

Maybe I'm just betraying my age here but I liked "Splinter of the Mind's Eye". Of course, I read it when I was 10 years old. It was going to be the basis of the 2nd movie IF the first movie wasn't successful. As we all know, "Star Wars" made huge huge money, meriting an expensive sequel, and not so much this stripped-down jungle-planet story.

And maybe they'll find C-3P0 on some rainy planet, all rusted, standing at salute:

    "Listen! He's saying something!"

"I think he said 'oil can'!"

I don't know if this is a terrible idea but if they plan it like the Marvel movies then I'll be happy.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan (despite the saddening prequel trilogy)...

And the spin off movie idea is just bad. A Young yoda? Boba Fett? Part of what makes the lesser known characters so cool is the fact that you don't know that much about them. You actually can use your imagination (imagine that), and speculate. These are just going to be very awful if this idea actually comes true.

Stick with the planned Episodes 7, 8, and 9...don't ruin it with unnecessary movies that are bound to be average at best.

Agree, the spin-offs are a bad idea. I don't a Boba Fett movie, I WANT a Boba Fett video game.

Yeah. If you want to expand the universe in the form of video games/comic books/novels/etc. then I'm cool with that.

But the movies should be limited just to the standard episodes like normal.

I know a lot of people may be against them, and I'm not to psyched about a "young yoda" or "boba fett" spin off, but I know I'll watch them...if they look good I'll check them out in the theater, if not I know I'll watch them on DVD at least and I have a feeling 95% of the people that have any remote interest in Star Wars will too. That's why they're going to make them and continue to...it's an endless cash cow that will probably be in constant production for the next 20-30 years? Who knows.

I know several times I told people or friends that they would make another trilogy. And people usually said they doubted it would happen. But it is just too popular not to.
