The UN is having problems keeping the heating systems in their headquarters running let along rule the World.

If World government were to happen anytime soon it would largely be under the control of the US.

Call me a non-believer, I just don't see the threat.

The European Union can't agree on one-governing body for themselves, how is the world supposed to agree to back the U.N.

The only way I see the U.N. taking over is if the U.S. is the one behind it taking over.

Any governing body that gives the French veto power can't be taken seriously.

Exactly-"The only way I see the U.N. taking over is if the U.S. is the one behind it taking over."

I don't think the U.N. could last a year without us. (remember the L of N)
And I don't see it as governing in the way you might think,
Consider it more of a broad coalition with a few very wealthy elite power brokers at the top exerting control through 'peace forces' and 'financial clout'

As of right now the U.S. military is becoming the clout of the U.N. (with a little NATO show for good measure)
And the federal reserve, world bank and IMF sort of share duty with the financial clout.

    Pretty much headed on course.

Just keep watching for treaties, resolutions and eventually capitulation to U.N. charters and mandates.

The Global government will be more of a massive coalition than a soveriegn entity.

Either way bow your knee baby.

UNESCO, the WORLD BANK, all these other global goodies are just the beginning.

Go to the U.N. website and study well...

BTW forget the French, Europe is worried about oil and our military- politics knows how to overcome all of that.

I don't understand all this fear of the U.N.

The same people who are upset that the U.N. couldn't agree to act on Iraq are also scared that it could take over the world. The UN is not set up to solve all the world's problems - it's to take situations where the entire world agrees and act on them. That's it - nothing more. Veto power is designed specifically so that none of the theoretical power nations are dragged into something they don't believe in.

The lack of action in Iraq is the perfect example of the UN's strength - unless the world agrees, the UN has no power. It is designed to focus on building consensus and then acting only on that. The UN can't take over the world unless all the nations - ours included - agree that it is the best thing for each individual nation.

Thanks for the worthless link. If you have some specifics you'd like to offer, feel free. Otherwise, your post is the equivalent of me posting:

    "visit http://www.un.org

    And read up."

I also do not consider coogling "Global Government" and reading a bunch of consipiracy theory hogwash on the internet to be educating myself.

Those currently in power prefer unilateral action over international cooperation. We will be paying the price for their nearsightedness for years to come.

CHINA. They are bound to be the next punching bag. The left hates them (us) for human rights reasons. The right hates us for anti-Commie, hawkish-over-Taiwan reasons. The YOHs hate them because of the YOFs.

Bush or whoever can unite the country with this new enemy.

That is what makes the Kerry nomination all the more shocking. I thought that the last thing the Dems needed was a "Massachusetts liberal". I wonder how Gephardt would have done?

Carter and Clinton were from Confederate states and Clinton was not that long ago. As you said, a moderate from south of the Mason-Dixon line would do wonders for the Dems. As a Republican - I'll say that I don't like Bush and that there are plenty like me. We'd cross the party-line for the right guy. (voting for the Libertarian doesn't count as crossing the partyline in my book).

You are absolutely correct. The Dems are a ship without a rudder, have been spineless, cowardly, and have failed to do their duty, at least as far as congressional democrats are concerned.

It is like being poor and seeing the GOP, as penny, and the Dems as a nickel. One might be slightly better than the other, but neither one really helps you out.

A douche -- giant or otherwise -- has its benefits.
