I'm not "busting a nut over his pectoral muscles" I'm giving him credit (something you can't do). Whatever bro, take as many shots as you want from now on, I'm done doing that. Strength will help him take the rigourous ounding of the NFL. We don't know how he'll hold up but that's the case with every prospect including VY. That's right, make every excuse in the world you can to not give him credit. When VY's Wonderlich scores were /are in question you always favored VY, When scouts said he was throwing to receiver after they had already made their breaks you said most of those reports were BS and VY had a great workout. Most Bush supporters (myself included) actually sided with VY and favored thge scouts who gave him glowing reports. It's infortunate you can't do the same with Reggie (only there aren't conflicting reports, he kicked ass). If you love VY that much fine. I guess you shouldn't even bother discussing these things though because you don't have an objectiuve opinion. Even though you said it wasn't ment to be a shot at Reggie you brought up testing for illegal substances. I wonder if VY had had the workout Reggie did if you would have said the same. Conveinent timing i guess.
Reggie isn't an OL. Watch a tape of him, if you question his feet and insticts then i have no idea what to say.
You guys are bickering too much on the 40 time. Bush did what he had to do at the combine. He showed that he has NFL breakaway speed(under 4.4 40 time), and proved he was an amazing athlete by having the highest vertical, longest broad jump, and possessing incredible strength for a man his size. What really matters is reviewing video to see how he performs in the game. Oh, and here is some footage of a running back that had a 4.37 40 time at the combine. As you can see he is plenty fast enough to take it to the house. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3922802902766357429&q=barry+sanders
Please, if I was trashing his workout I woudl come right out and do it. He had an excellent workout, about as well as could be expected. All I said was that it doesn't tell us anything we already didn't know - the guy is fast and a good athlete -- you're the one who's going around proclaiming its superhumanity, the questions have all been answered, lock the threads, blah blah blah. I tend to save that for on-the field performance anyway - but honestly, running in the high 4.3's on a fast track in track spikes - it's not the same as Deion ripping off 4.2 whatever on astroturf n Indianapolis in a neutral setting. Again, I don't give a damn about 40 times anyway. Now that you mention it, if Vince would have shown up packing tons of muscle in a short time (though why he would as a QB and f-up his flexibility is beyond me) I would definitely suspect him of juicing. No player is above suspciion in that regard. Hell, if I could make several million more guaranteed dollars in signing bonuses by juicing for a few weeks, boosting my workouts, and having NO chance of getting caught at these unregulated workouts -- you would find me banging on the doors of BALCO screaming to let me in. In fact I might have less respect for a player who was too stupid to do that. Anyway, I don't really give a crap that you worship Reggie Bush and are spinning things his way, that is fine. It doesn't bother me, he's an excellent player and will be good in the NFL. I'm just not going to go apesh-t over his bench press - it's nice but honestly I don't see how it matters too much in the grand scheme. I guess that makes me a hater in your eyes, and that's fine too.
I didn't question his feet or instincts. I just don't think you can determne whether or not somebody is going to be a good blocker by the number of bench press reps they can do. That's pretty obvious.
You couldn't trash his workout. It would be impossible to do. All you are doing is offering up reasons for why what he did wasn't that great or this that and the other. Everytime someone brings up something bush related you look for something negative. That's been consistant throught every thread you've been involved in (regarding bush/Young). How many lbs of muscle did he really pack on? In all honesty he was just in superb shape. I think the setroid thing is stupid. I don't believe you either when you said you would question VY (but that's personal opinion). Both of those guys are set regardless. They wouldn't risk getting caught for something stupid like juicing. Itm akes no sense. Please shoe me how I'm spinning thing's Reggie's way or that I worship him. I just want the Texans to draft him because i feel he's the best fit. I've stated numerous times that i would have traded down for the right deal. You're the one who worships VY and always spins things. Just look at your posts (not the ones were bickering at each other) but the ones where we're having debates. The peopleo n these boards (for the most part at least) have no allegiance to USC or Bush. I don't and I didn't go to A@M or hate UT. They want Bush b/c they think he's best for our team. VY has a lot of worshippers in here b/c he won a National Championship for UT and is a hometown guy. That's just a fact.
Actually strength does help in blocking. Reggie is a good blocker anyways (this was never a question). At least i didn't think it was.
I have questions about his blocking but didn't feel it is signficant enough to debate about, after all, we're not drafting him to block for us. He never did a whole lot of blocking at USC, not that he should have or anything. And while strength does help in blocking, it isn't a key. Blocking is about anticipating the rush and anticipating the moves the defender will use to try to get around you. While Bush is obviously really strong, 6'4" 260lbs DEs/LBs will always have a pretty sizable advantage over a 5'10" 200lb RB. But like I said, we're not drafting him to block. He is an explosive player that should A. run the ball B. line up at slot C. Run out for screens/dump passes.
I guess saying that I don't really believe that it's superhuman and saying that he had an excellent workout all the same is negative. I call it objective. I've said time and time again that I think t-shirt and shorts workouts are silly when you're dealing with palyers of this caliber anyway, and I think history validates this. You apparently believe differently. That's fine. If they're not going to get tested - there's no risk of getting caught. It makes no sense NOT to cheat. I don't know which players did or didn't use performance enhancing substances prior to their workouts - but you've got to think that at least some of them are smart enough to realize that they can make millions more dollars by using performance enhancing substances to enhance their performance (even if it was only ephedrine) and not risk getting caught - especially given that the events measure things that steroids other stimulants directly affect (raw musclepower).
He's actually good at picking up the blitz. In terms of other blocking I'm not sure. I agree with you though, it's not a big deal either way (althjough the blitz pick up was somewhat important b/c of our OL). I agree with you on the blocking i was just pointing out that his strength helps out a lot more then people seem to be giving him credit for. Agree with A.B abd C wholeheartedly.
Actually, the super human part was directed at Desert Scar. His idea of a super human workout was what Reggie did. You and I just happened to debate about it. Since all the top prospects do it we really can't do anything about it. It was like when VY ran slower then i expected i said it diodn't make a difference to me because i know he's fast. These are the workouts we get so it's all we have to go on. Only fringe guys workout at the combine anymore. You never know but guys like Bush, Leinart and VY have too much risk involved. Say your trainer or the lab you are getting your stuff rom gets busted (BALCO) then you could lose a lot. It's just not worth it to top flight guys. A fringe guy or someone who could jump from 17 to 7 I can see it but not a guy who's going in the top 3.
Ever heard of morals or self-respect. The statement of "it makes no sense not to cheat" is ridiculous. You are terrible
I don't think he is condoning cheating. He is just saying that because there is nothing in place to prevent it, opportunists would not pass up the chance to enhance their draft status.
Sorry IC, I'm not on your moral high horse. There's no rule against taking ephedrine before a pre-draft workout, and having studied the Koran, Talmud, Bible in depth over the last 63 seconds, I can't find any religious rule about it either. Does this have to do with the Aggy code of honor or something?
Actually he said he would do it if given the chance so I think that pretty much means he's condoning it. I'm not even going to touch the steroid crap because i don't think any of those guys (Bush, Leinart or VY) did anything like that.
Since NO has their QB, what would they be willing to give up to move up one spot and grab Bush? Would they give up next year's first rounder and a couple other picks along with this year's first rounder? It's obvious that Bush is going to be great. What is his price? We should be happy that his workout turned out so good. We either get a great back or we get more trade value. We could use this draft to stack our team for several years. Football is the ultimate team game, just ask Barry Sanders. And the position that has the most impact on the field is the quarterback. QBs make and break more ballgames than any running back ever will.
Your point makes no sense. Now your saying that it is ok to take ephedrine. Is it cheating or not? If it is cheating than it is immoral to cheat. You are just a dumb sip. PS You suck at life.. a lot
Considering they just gave Deuce like 50 million and paid his signing bonus probably nothing. He's a good back when healthy so they are going to at least see how he recovers.
