Add this to the ever-growing list of Bush-isms. I think this trumps Kerry's mis-speak in the other thread. http://apnews.myway.com//article/20040805/D84963381.html WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of "Bushisms" on Thursday, declaring that his administration will "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people." Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." No one in Bush's audience of military brass or Pentagon chiefs reacted.
What was meant... "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we stop thinking of ways to stop them." Come on, English profs... the reciprocal is implied here. Like there have never been "SpaceCityisms" or "Oski2005isms." I know there are "IROC itisms."
Except that none of y'all are the President of the United States. Then again GW could be a Rocket fan.
As I said in the other thread, there is nothing wrong with how he said it. There are people whose jobs are thinking up ways products can malfunction or be destroyed. You guys don't believe that thinking like a terrorist is one of the better ways to come up with ways to stop them? Really, it seems like liberals want to have their cake and eat it too. Bush apparently did nothing to stop 9/11 and now anything he tries to do to prevent future terrorist attacks is unneeded, ridiculous, unconstitutional, impossible, impractical, etc.
we save those attacks for other threads. In this one (and its seven sisters) we merely make fun of his bushisms for their humour.
Thanks for the etiquette lesson, Administrator. I assumed that the Hangout version of this thread was the one to make fun of the quote in. How silly of me.
was that directed at me i thought i was being flippant. (even agreeing with the shoulda stopped it, how dare he do that bit) sorry --- no offense meant.
Another type of Bushism! Or is this a FF? Bush opposes 'legacy' college admissions WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Friday he opposes the use of a family history at colleges or universities as a factor in determining admission. Bush stated his position to what's known as "legacy" in response to a question during a Washington forum for minority journalists called Unity 2004. He was asked, "Colleges should get rid of legacy?" Bush responded, "Well I think so, yes. I think it ought to be based upon merit." Under legacy programs, applicants are given an advantage if their parents or grandparents attended the school. Bush, a third-generation graduate of Yale University, joked about his own legacy. "Well, in my case, I had to knock on a lot of doors to follow the old man's footsteps," he said to laughter. http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/06/bush.legacy/index.html
