What I am saying is that my personal opinion is that these "jokes" are tasteless, regardless of whether one supports the war or not.
this is satire, as such it puts up a mirror to our society. SJC, i don't think this is anywhere near the artist level of someone like john heartfield but it is relevant and contains an abstract level of truth. "funny" is a relative term and some find it difficult to laugh at things that are disturbing, some need it. it's okay that you don't find it to have merit, but it is not, in my opinion, offensive.
Wow. This is so far from funny... I was watching the Sox-Yankees game with a buddy (former Army) of mine this week. As we were watching the game, he got an e-mail from one of the guys in his old unit telling him that one of his friends had died. My friend was there and is against the war, but if he saw this web site he would not only be angry at this BS, I suspect he'd be hurt. Laughing at the difficulties our military face is not funny, it's pathetic. Regardless of your political agenda. Low class man.
I think this is a problem for both sides. Americans don't like taking responsibility for things so we tend to either laugh about it or oversymbolize it. Those who oppose the war can poke fun at it, removing themselves from the reality. Those for the war can put a flag on their car and a 'support our troops' sticker on their bumper so they can continue with their lives thinking they've actually done something. What kind of coping methods does everyone else here use? I participate on the D&D and othertimes I just watch Bill Maher or CNN, other times I'll just go back to my wasteful habits and say that I'm fighting terrorism by not letting it get to me. In the end, I hope everyone feels like they bear some type of responsibility, but know that you can't do anything about it.
