...or maybe Gore voters thought they had it won, so why bother? Bottom line, if you don't vote, you have no one to blame but your Un-American Rush Limbaugh imitating self.
The one thing we should take out of this is that our voting system is one big steaming pile of crap, and in need of an exhaustive overhall. If after a year, and numerous studies, we still can't get a ****ing certain answer, then there is something inherently wrong with the voting system we use.

However, my guess is that Florida is the only state that reforms their system, and the current steaming pile of crap remains everywhere else until it affects another election.
I'm still curious why a Californian Republican's vote doesn't count. I'm still curious why a Texan Democrat's vote doesn't count. If we're going to 'get out' the vote, why not 'make the votes count for something worth a damn'. Voting is each citizen's responsibility... but it's also the government's responsibility to enable the voter to have his/her voice heard. I'm not sure that's the case in this antiquated state-centric system. Is it impossible to manage a popular vote? Is that the problem?
If they were counted fairly - as the machines read them on election day - Bush wins. Simple as that. Uhm , just because a machine counts the votes doesnt mean its fair. when an election is that close (and for the presidency) you have to go back and check for errors.
And they did. If the recount had proceeded EXACTLY as it was going in December before the Supreme Court stopped it, Bush would have won. The results show that.
I'm talking about a full recount of the whole state. With Bush's standards and Gore's standards , Al Gore won . But I dont care anymore, i wish I never saw this thread.
did anyone see Letterman talking about this last night?? he announced the results of the study and then said, "you know, i think Al Gore is really in trouble in this election now." it was hilarious!!
