Is this the new Republican talking point? When the president messes up, it's not his fault! It's the fault of the people who report on and point out his mistakes! Shame on them!
as is the continued effort by those of the left to rewrite history, while we're battling a fanatical enemy that wants nothing more than to blow us up. it is, dare i say it, unpatriotic to continue to treat the war as just another political issue. as i said, destroying bush is all that matters now to the democratic left.
Democrats aren't destroying Bush... he is destroying himself. I'm a patriot. That's why I am so angry at this man, who is the very definition of the Peter Principal. What he has done and is continuing to do to my country is unspeakable. What he is doing to the rest of the world is a travesty. That people like you continue to defend him, using whatever is the current defense/excuse... apparently, it's everyone's fault but his... disgusts me. He should be impeached for gross incompetence. Keep D&D Civil.
I have to quote myself here: I actually put that bit in as sarcasm, but basso is still throwing it around. Man.
While I continue to graciously ignore the deeply insulting nature of this statement, I'll address it a bit more. Are you aware that responses in this thread and your other one actually address the substance of the issue directly, i.e. the exact nature of the administrations' exaggerations, creative omissions, and misleading statements? If us freedom-hating, terrorist-loving liberals were making all of this up then you'd have the beginnings of a point (but you'd still have a ways to go to say we prefer something over victory in Iraq.) But we're not making this up. The misleading (is that word better than "lying?" Enjoy!) and cherry-picking of evidence to go to war is a matter of record. And this is the honest truth from me: if we succeed to build a secular democracy in Iraq that stands on it's own two feet, then I'm fine with Bush being hailed as a visionary. He'd still have things to answer to, as any leader should, but I'll never pick "destroying Bush" over life and liberty for Iraqis. Not that I should ever have to answer to the insult that I would want otherwise. Your disgust, though sincere, is part of a convenient cover-all that allows dismissal of anyone and anything criticising the president. And besides, how would us liberal civilians choose to fail in Iraq? Because our criticisms reach the press? That's so weak. Does your posting get stupider when you're saddened, disgusted and ultimately sickened? By the way, how can you hear us? We've been silenced.
Maybe someday before The Chucklehead-N-Chief gets out of office he will figure out that speeches are not more important than his actual policies. I have a dream.
Speaking of rewriting history, can you please point out where in the Iraqi Liberation Act it says the US armed forces are to be used in any way to bring about regime change? That was just a funding Act for pro-Democracy, Iraqi opposition groups and a policy declaration.
Jim Jordan, a former adviser to Kerry, said Bush's speech reflected weakness. "It was driven by a petulance and frustration, and it had the tone of a president with an approval rating of 35 percent," he said. "He's sounding less statesmanlike when he needs to seem more." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/11/AR2005111100916_2.html?nav=hcmodule the frustrated desperate liberal extremists were even in the white house!!!
News for you guy: Bush is already destroyed. He's done. Toast. Stick a fork in him. 37% approval? And the news ain't getting better. The sharks are circling. I hope he gets the boot - and maybe the World will have a bit more faith in the American people if not the American government.
Actually what is really sad is that to serve their own political interest, some people are completely willing to overlook the big picture. The big picture is the welfare of our country. No matter how many factions exists within our country, the greater goal over all others should be to look out for USA. It is apparent that Bush has been a failure so far in terms of serving his country. His admistration has been under fire over several issues and his approval ratings is incredibly low. In spite of the obvious, the few blind supporters of Bush have been... 1) Defending him 2) Blaming criticism of the poor performance of Bush on bipartisan state 3) Asking to ignore the flaws and stay on course to blindly support the war policies and the troops. Its attitude like this that makes me wonder what do you really care for? America or Bush?
Regime change was already the policy. Invasion was not the only way to accomplish that. But Bush's own words were about keeping the peace. He told them "that was it was all about". Are you saying that the Dems should have known Bush was lying?
