I'm really surprised GWB submitted himself to such a long interview of tough questions. I'm surprised his administration let him go solo for so long without help. Dodged all the tough questions, but any politician would, really. Time will tell how this pans out, but I don't see how this will help him- Russert confronted him expertly with tough, appropriate questions, and Bush almost universally failed to answer anything. This will only bolster his opponents, but those who like him will continue to, regardless. This guy is just horrible at talking. Awful. I mean, I don't like it when a politician is all slick and polished and has his soundbytes down either. But this guy can't talk, he can't communicate any semblance of intelligence, self-confidence, independent thought, ability to think on his feet. How the hell did the republicans make this guy the nominee over McCain?
that is possibly the single greatest post in the history of this BBS! thank you. i might throw that on my sig...
That's not what I saw. I guess this shows how much baggage people bring to the table when they make judgments (and this is not a slight against you, my opions are formed by my "baggage" as well.). Fair enough! I have never hid my hatred of the man! With regard to his service record he said look all you want and he denied being AWOL. It’s easy to get an honorable discharge, especially with your family connections. Why won’t he just release his military record? With regard to the economy he said that the economy has been significantly strained by events and that his tax cuts are helping and taking away those cuts during a recovering economy would not be wise. Wise for whom? With regard to WMDs and Iraq he said that he felt that in this era of catastrophic terrorism (my words) he felt he couldn't sit by and let someone like Saddam become more of a threat than he already was. Oh! So it wasn’t about WMDs after all? Also, he implied that Kerry (and all of congress) agreed with him as they had the same intelligence Bush had and they voted to go to war. They are saying know that they were deceived but if they had the same intel how can that be? They could have all been duped, however. They only knew what the administration told them. If you are part of the first two vote him out in November. OH! We will! However, he is a horrible extemporaneous speaker. The worst. And it was very painful to watch. Again we agree!
MacB dude, I'm begining to lose some respect for you man, you played right into T_J's hands and are now playing his game of moronic insults. I suggest you stop being a jerk and cut out the insults, or else you really will become an intellectual snob.
Chase, I also thought he "answered" (allowing that no politician on any of these shows really answers anything) questions to both his National Guard stint and the economy well. I also think that he is a moron. Nothing he said implied original thinking and he has a terrible time trying to keep even rehearsed, regurgitated thoughts together (I don't buy for a second that this was truly "unscripted"). It is not just that he is smart and has trouble communicating - there is nothing there. I have a lot of experience analyzing such things so I think my reading of him is pretty decent. Elite schools since middle school, it seems, didn't matter. Oddly enough, I think he comes accross as a bit arrogant as well. Perhaps it is something else, but he says the most simplistic, pared down things, using as many buzzwords as possible, but delivers it as if he is explaining something "deep" or hard to cogitate. Also, as to be expected, the interview wasn't as hard as it could or should have been...but, again, that is never going to happen with any politician, much less the President. Regardless, I don't see how this gives him too much of a boost. I could certainly be wrong, though.
He spelled it right. He used the hyphen so people would read it "mow-ron", which I've always heard people use to highlight the severity of the moronic qualities possessed by someone.
