I agree that Kerry was wrong not to support gay marriage. He may be a bigger politico, but in the end he wasn't willing to try and change the constitution to endorse discrimination. Bush was, and that is probably what was seen as gay bashing. CBrownFanClub - They may make good neighbors but apparently if we change from gender specific pronouns to just "people" regarding the definition of marriage then it some kind of great evil, that is so important it should be in the constitution.
I consider supporting a consitutional admendment to ban gay marriages to be gay bashing. You might ask one of your gay friends if they consider GWB's action gay bashing or not. My gay friends thought GWB as gay bashing.
That's fine. I can see that. However, are your gay friends conservatives or liberals? I would bet that concervative gays thought Bush was playing politics (as Kerry) but liberal ones felt he was bashing. I bet your liberal gay friends also forgave Kerry his weak stance on the issue as "doing what it took to win" and saw Bush's stance as hate whereas concervative gays probaby thought exactly the opposite. Once again, your gay friends have their opinions but they by all means do NOT represent the feelings of all gays. As I said earlier, to project the feelings (or actions) of an individual onto a group of people is not a wise thing to do.
It seems more and more that Bush used the Religious Right to help him gain a 2nd term, and now that he has it, he's going to drop them like a hot potato. That just makes Bush a normal, everyday politician....all he cares about are votes and $$$ contributions. USED
Well I guess for conservatives realy are relativist afterall. Remember Bush was the one who campaigned that he sticks to his word while his opponent was the flip flopper.
Republicans should erect a bronze statue of Karl Rove. 20 years from now, Americans might wake up and tear it down in front of world cameras.
