I disagree with McCain, but at least is based on substantive issue, and not some ridiculous fear tactic that misrepresents almost everyone involved.
I understand where you're coming from. talking/not talking to these nations we deem rogue is a legitimate political issue. isolationist policy (which this has nothing to do with) is a legitimate political issue. comparing policies to what allowed hitler's reign is not.
World powers still want Iran nuclear talks: Rice Mar 6, 2008 http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5jDoWVewBgu6CF6b9iBs9wVSMZtJA US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice insisted Thursday that world powers would continue to offer Iran incentives to get it to suspend uranium enrichment, even after Iran rejected further talks. "The six ... continue to follow a dual track strategy," she told reporters at NATO headquarters, referring to the pursuit of sanctions at the United Nations and the offer of talks led by EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana. "We are continuing to talk about what the path would look like for Iran, should it choose the path of negotiation," Rice said. "There's is a lot on the table, the Iranians want to know more about it, or want to know in greater depth what those elements mean," she said in reference to an offer long on the table that the Islamic republic has rejected.
He said what a heck of a lot of people would like to have said in front of a large audience. Kudos to Biden! Impeach Bush.
Why can't Bush just disappear, shut up and let McCain run for president? My goodness! It's already been said Obama isn't running against Bush and stupid speeches like this will help obscure that fact.
A_3PO, the sad fact for the GOP is that Bush has been President for over 7 years now and had a Republican Congress during the vast majority of that period. He went through most of two terms without vetoing a single bill that GOP Congress passed. He has a record. So does that GOP Congress. McCain is the nominee of George W. Bush's party and the party of that GOP Congress. The American people will take the record of the Republican Party while it was governing into account when voting in November. It will take it into account when deciding if McCain or the Democratic nominee should be the next President of the United States. To expect anything less is unrealistic. To expect the Democratic party and its nominee to ignore what the American people remember and will not ignore is unrealistic. Yes, I'm belaboring the obvious, but you might as well get used to the notion that McCain will have that Republican record tied around his neck. It should be! Impeach Bush.
I don't have a problem with that and agree it should be. It's then on McCain to differentiate himself. From my standpoint, that is exactly what this election is about for McCain. I just want Bush to disappear since he isn't part of the future. He should be almost completely irrelevant to making a decision. Again, it's on McCain to completely flush out his differences with Bush but not be held responsible for all of Bush's idiocy (except where he embraced them). Looking backward or forward, McCain's record is the issue, not Bush's. But I'm a realist who just doesn't want Bush exacerbating the situation.
OK. I certainly agree with you that if Bush cared the slightest bit about his own party he'd hide until after the election. All he's doing is hurting McCain, which is your point, of course. Point taken! Impeach Bush. It'll Shut Him Up!
Oh my lord this is funny. Well worth watching. Wingnut gets completely pwned. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/d1wSZBTAXRs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/d1wSZBTAXRs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
didn't read the thread, but Bush absolutely PWN3D Obama. This really struck a nerve with the Obama drones. They know Obama is totally out of his league when it comes to foreign policy.
Wow! That is one of the best ownage I have ever seen. This is gold. "Obviously you don't know anything." As for McCain. Who needs enemies when you have friends like Bush? Keep talking Bush.....
Incredible. Almost made me feel sorry for the poor wingnut. Chris Matthews made an excellent point concerning the difference between talking to an enemy and "appeasement".
via TPM -- McCain Endorsed Negotiating With Hamas Two Years Ago It turns out there could be a big problem with John McCain's charge that Barack Obama is unfit to be president on the basis of his desire to negotiate with hostile foreign leaders. In fact, McCain was saying very much the same thing two years ago -- and it was about Hamas, a group Obama hasn't proposed dealing with, but one that McCain has nevertheless gone out of his way to associate with Obama watch it <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CzDBi2nURNk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CzDBi2nURNk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
REACH He NEVER proposes the President meeting with Hamas. Never. So this is an invalid argument that you are making. "Dealing with Hamas" is much, much different than Snobama's naive policy position of having the President meet with a terror group. Experience matters, people. So called 'ingenious' arguments conjured up in the ivory towers of academia do not persuade terrorists. They don't. Obama is just so far in over his head here. His handlers need to keep him quiet, lest his marketing campaign drifts off course...
