Kerry walking around in a helmet and vest during Viet Nam = Kerry recreating heroic battle scenes to make himself look heroic?

Could you please explain that logic?

Bob Dole takes a phone call from Kerry and totally destroys him:

Dole Defends Swiftees in Call From Kerry

Presidential candidate John Kerry telephoned former Sen. Bob Dole this morning to complain about Dole's demand a day earlier that he apologize to Vietnam veterans for protesting the war, the one-time Republican presidential candidate revealed Monday afternoon.

"John Kerry called me this morning, which surprised me," Dole told radio host Sean Hannity.

    Story Continues Below

"He said he was very disappointed, we'd been friends. I said John, we're still friends, but [the Swiftvets] have First Amendment rights, just as your people have First Amendment rights.

Dole told Kerry, "I'm not trying to stir anything up, but I don't believe every one of these people who have talked about what happened are Republican liars.

"And very frankly, Bush is my guy, and I'm tired of people on your side calling him everything from a coward to a traitor to everything - a deserter."

Dole said he urged Kerry, "Why don't you call George Bush today and say, 'Mr. President, let's stop all this stuff about the National Guard and Vietnam - and let's talk about the issues."

Dole said Kerry responded, "I haven't spent one dime attacking President Bush."

But the Republican war hero shot back, "You don't have to. You've got all the so-called mainstream media, plus you've got MoveOn.org and all these other groups that have spent millions and millions of dollars trying to tarnish Bush's image."

"Don't tell me you don't know what some of these people are doing," he told Kerry.

"Everybody likes quiet heroes," Dole added, saying he told Kerry, "John, everybody knows you were in Vietnam and the less you say about it, the better."

Dole said he tried to end the tense conversation cordially by telling Kerry, "I wish you good luck, up to a point.

I have it on good authority that one of Kerry's purple hearts was very questionable.

Apparently his hand slipped off the shaft when he was masturbating and he hit his chin and chipped a tooth.

However he claims it was a combat wound......inquiring minds want to know JFK, did you earn the medal or simply lose your grip?

    ;)

Every time that I start to get anoyed by Kerry talking about his Vietnam experience the Swiftvets just make me more impressed by Kerry's service.

The more I find out about how shaky and shoddy the "so called" Swiftvets for Truth evidence to support their attacks on Kerry the better Kerry's service looks.

For instance if the Swiftvets argument is that the incident where Kerry earned his Bronze Star there wasn't enemy fire that the head of the Swiftvets also earned a Bronze Star in the same incident?

Perhaps that guy should toss his medals over the Whitehouse fence because it was earned fraudulently.

How come one of Kerry's former CO's in the Swiftvets group defended Kerry against similar accusations a few years ago?

If the Swiftvets are so certain about their arguments how come another one of them admitted on Fox News of all places that he has no records to back up any of his accusations?

I don't think whether a person served in combat should be a major criteria and as I said I was getting really sick of Kerry carping on and on and on about his service in Vietnam but considering how weak and hypocritical the Swiftvets are I'm beginning to buy into that if you can judge a man by his enemies then thanks to the Swiftvets Kerry is looking pretty good.

If your enemies ask you to do something......you don't do it! Huge mistake for Bush. Your enemies will snipe at you about anything and now you have shown them weakness. Publicly funded elections are a bad idea for several reasons, one of which is the fact I really don't want to be forced to pay the bills for a bunch of fringe lunatic candidates with the present program or an expanded one (That crackpot Lyndon LaRouche receives Federal matching funds, which is a travesty.) Such a system would automatically help imcumbents and lead to more of the careerism in our public service because they receive free advertising (since they are covered by the media as dully elected govt. officials) and would have a huge advantage in just simple name recognitition. Here's my solution: Let the candidates raise and spend as much money as they want from whoever they want, but....and a big but.....force full disclosure on where those contributions originate. Let the free market of ideas decide.

I am completely recoiling at this point.

Why do these two candidates continually talk about what happened 30 years ago rather than what is happening today?

I am thoroughly disgusted with this Presidential election so far.

    Not quite.

He was shot in the arm by a German while saving the life of his troops radio man. He almost died.

A little different than throwing a grenade at a bag of rice.

The issue here, as I have heard it raised, is was he present and active on duty in Alabama at the times he was supposed to be. . . . Just because you get an honorable discharge does not in fact answer that question.

Was that an ad, or Sen. Kerry answering a question back in February? It wasn't even Kerry raising the issue. All Kerry did was state the reason people were questioning Bush's service.

You are aware that Dole's first wound in WW2 was self inflicted right?

"That means that ad, every other ad," he said. "I can't be more plain about it. And I wish I hope my opponent joins me in saying condemning these activities of the 527s. It's I think they're bad for the system. That's why I signed the bill, McCain-Feingold."

This would be a lie from the CiC.

If I was Kerry, I'd do the opposite of what Bob Dole told me to do, seeing as he was completely demolished in the 1996 election.

    "That's why I signed the bill, McCain-Feingold."

Let's review. GWB 2000 campaigned against McCain-Feingold. President GWB's close association with troubled Enron cause political problems, which President GWB made go away by signing the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill. This is the reason, not the "I signed McCain-Feingold to get rid 527s" nonsensical reason GWB gave at the press conference.

"It is all a matter of how you look at it. If you play the (Rodney King beatiing) tape backwards, you will see us help the man up and send him on his way."
