I think the point is to contrast the "horror" of OBL to the "horror" (excuse me while I laugh) of Bill Gates. The monies spent prosecuting these "lawbreakers" should have been place-holding zeroes apart.
So what? Bush has promised lots of stuff: We will find WMD's, no child left behind, fix medicare, blah, blah, blah. To get out of that hole maybe you can try digging up.
OK, here's the point: The email is bullsh*t, snopes called the bullsh*t, and you just can't seem to swallow the fact that it has been dismissed as such. Next time I get other bullsh*t emails I guess I will just post them without comment and say So you wonder how I can miss the point and the rest of us wonder how you could possibly be so obtuse. Fair enough. I can live with that.
giddyup, first of all hasn't it been proven that the people respnsible for those attacks while Clinton was president were arrested. So the promise has been kept. So the rest of the logic fall apart.
I think the email actually says very little (the part about Bush especially), yet all of you read so much into it. I'm still waiting for some really substantive criticism of the content of the email. I don't think there is much to say about that, but it would be nice to see the kind of confession that Sam is trying to extract form me. Most of what you all have said is your own extrapolation of what the intent/use of the piece is/was. Snopes is an authority on myths not politics. All they have perhaps accurately documented here is that this thing makes the rounds from time to time.
By my count using the Snopes information(see my post on page 1) only 9 of 26 suspects has been arrested.
You are absolutely right. If the GOP Congress had gotten their heads out of their a$$es, they would have allowed Clinton to spend what was necessary to track those f***s down when it was easy, rather than after he had a chance to plan and execute 9/11 and then go into hiding along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border. The failures are as much the fault of the GOP as they are the Democrats.
And many of the rest of them are under the protection of the Saudi government. You know, the Saudi government that GWB and his daddy have been so close to over the years. Saudi Arabia, home of (IIRC) 18 of the 19 9/11 hijackers. Bush covered it UP, but that is about it.
giddy, I like you and for the most part, agree with you on views about politics, but let this one go. I knew when I first read the initial post that this was something that I had seen on Snopes that was proven false. Posting a thread about this would be like me posting in the hangout that a munchkin hung himself in the Wizard of Oz and you can see his body as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and Tin Man go down the yellow brick road.
How many times does it have to be stated that there is no credible evidence that suggests that Iraq EVER had anything to do with al-Quaeda or 9/11. I supported the war on TERROR, specifically the action in Afghanistan, but the war in Iraq has somewhere between little and nothing to do with the war on terror, except perhaps in the minds of the GOP and their sheep. If I had been posting on this board after Clinton lied to my face about Lewinsky, you would have heard at least as bad about him, but even given that lie, Bush has been the worst president I have ever known, period. I have no problem calling the Dems on their bull$hit, but you seem to support the RNC line, no matter how ridiculous it is. I am independant, it is just that the Democrats are making FAR more sense these days than the GOP. Heck, if there were even a HINT of fiscal conservativism in the GOP, I might feel differently. I would rather have a tax and spend Democrat right now than the borrow and spend Republican we have in office.
Then will you lay off criticism of the president's prosecution of the war on terror? You can't have it both ways. Some of them are probably dead already because of the war on terror.
What is false? The authorship? Okay, fine. I don't really care about that. I'm more interested in what the piece says than whether or not someone really meant it when they wrote it. Swift wrote "A Modest Proposal" and he didn't mean it but it is still worthy of discussion. Is the falsehood that you are all chirping about limited to the authorship multiplied by your extrapolation of the message? Hey, maybe I have too much time on my hands today. I'm home with my 2 and 4 YOs but the patent dismissal of the message of this email (whether hokey or not) gets under my skin. I don't care if the author is real or fictionalized.
