To prove that he is relevant and he is powerful?

I personally think he has serious self-esteem issue. And because of this character fault, we squandered trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. :(

that comment sums up what is wrong w/ politicians - they think of it as career. look how much time and money they spend to get relected, plus sometimes they dont do whats best if it could cost them politically. i think we could get alot more done if we didnt have people in there worrying about their "careers' all the time.

what would james k. polk do?

basically, we need term limits in the senate too, imo.

That traitorous liar. Fifty-four forty or fight indeed. He wimped out and settled at 49. Because of him, I have to go into another damn country if I want to ski Whistler or go to Vancouver.

Where's Polk's great-great-great grandson and does he have a massive inferiority complex? We need him to run for President so he can invade Canada and do what his great-great-great grandad wouldn't do.

watching one of the sunday morning news shows, and someone commented on how much money it takes to get elected and the special interests that provide this money. and basically the grid lock in congress is caused because the politicians have to deliver on their promises they made to get the money.

lets be honest, being a politician is a career. this isn't the 1800s where some guy in missouri owns a farm that makes him money while he can help govern the country. it would be silly of us not to expect these people to be worried about their careers. they have a lot invested in getting to where they are.

Jr quietly signs his 7th veto.

President Bush vetoes child health bill again

President Bush vetoed an expansion of the federally funded, state-run health insurance program for poor children for a second time Wednesday, telling Congress the bill "moves our country's health care system in the wrong direction."

Yet we can afford another $70 billion for a failed war.

Such a clear comment on the failed Bush presidency. Only one veto during his entire two terms, against a widely supported stem cell research bill, and not one veto of a GOP Congress stuffed to bursting on pork, record deficits, record growth in government, more tax cuts for the wealthy and big business at the expense of the middle class, the disadvantaged, and in the middle of two wars. Yet somehow, he finds the energy to veto this, twice.

Truly, this man has to rank as the worst American President in modern history.

    Impeach Bush.

I agree this is a poor veto, but the anger about it doesn't seem to be catching on -- people just aren't noticing it or they just don't care.
