Sure, but we can always get better. I always appreciate it when people can help me out with my mistakes. I am pretty good but certain words always drag me down.

i've always tended to make mistakes with spelling words phonetically instead of how they are really spelled - shakespheare being a prime example. no spell check in these boxes ya know. or at least i do't use it. same with then/than and all that.

my work requires more of a mastery of the spoken than the written word, but at the same time, i think the written word is more powerful in ways because you have someone's full attention while they read what you wrote - no guarantee with the spoken word of that.

So you are out to instigate and piss off 90% of the posters here. Is that what you are trying to say? LOL. You should find better things to do than that.

new yorker has stated in the past that he takes positions he doesnt agree with just for the sake of stirring the debate. arguing for the sake of arguing. that is why there is no point in having any real type of dialog with him. i do enjoy his posts though - every word is comedy gold!

Well, only advanced lit majors would recognize that name: it's the scribe's obese cousin, famous only for his nearly-deadly homebrew.

    Tetraodontidae

    Natural defenses

The puffers's unique and distinctive natural defenses are necessary due to their particular form of locomotion. Puffers use a combination of pectoral, dorsal, anal, and caudal fins for propulsion that make them highly maneuverable but very slow, and therefore comparatively easy targets for predators. As a defense mechanism, puffers have the ability to inflate rapidly, filling their extremely elastic stomachs with water (or air when outside the water) until they are almost spherical in shape. Thus, a hungry predator stalking the puffers may suddenly find itself facing what seems to be a much larger fish and pause, giving the puffers an opportunity to retreat to safety. When lifted out of water there is a risk that puffers inflate with air. This may result in problems deflating again afterwards. When this happens with aquarium specimens the recommended course of action for fishkeepers is to hold the puffer underwater by the tail, head upwards, and shake the fish gently until the air escapes out of the mouth.

You guys need to lay off New Yorker. He's right. Giving children access to healthcare is descending towards upheaval and a breakdown of our society. It's un-American.

Kids should be able to get health care from their employers. They shouldn't be wasting taxpayer money in public schools. They should be helping the country: mining, stocking shelves at Wal-Mart, and working in the construction of high rise condos in re-gentrified working class neighborhoods.

You guys are a bunch of counter-reactionary Maoists.

Ottoman, at least you are named appropriately huh?

An ottoman is a piece of furniture, a padded, upholstered seat or bench having neither back nor arms, often used as a stool or footstool.
