Well I saw the RNC< and one of the biggest if not the biggest themes was 9/11. It doesn't matter what Limbaugh thinks Kerry's biggest accomplishment is. It matters what Kerry runs on. Bush is running on 9/11.
FDR won by running on the accomplishments he'd done over his past terms, and his plans for the future. Bush is running on 9/11 and Distortions of Kerry's record.
You can't respond to the incredible list of Bush "accomplishments", so you resort to personal attacks? And we're supposed to take you seriously?
I think the problem is that the Bush campaign has successfully parlayed the few things they have done well into a greater perception of the state of the country. For instance their deliberate conflation between 9/11 and Iraq. In practically all of the speeches at the Republican convention mention of 9/11 and was closely followed by removing Saddam and even on several occasions mentioned in the same sentence. Although even the Administration admits no ties have been found between Saddam's regime and 9/11 and many in the Administration have even doubted that ties ever existed. Also in regards to Libya they trumpet the case that Qadafi dismantled and surrendered his WMD program while totally ignoring that even during the invasion of Iraq North Korea boasted it had nukes and that it was going to make more while Iran has also hardened their positions on nukes. On the same subject Cheney in his speech mentioned that the largest proliferation program of nuclear weapons had been stopped he failed to mention that that program was run by AQ Khan the chief scientist of our ally in the war on terror Pakistan and that while that program has been exposed the Musharraf government hasn't punished AQ Khan or turned him over to international authorities but has pardoned him. This Administration has successfully spun public perception in regards to terrorism and security even as they themselves ponder that they don't see any way of winning the war against terror.
No, GV76, that is the KERRY campaign that can not argue facts or evidence. Lurch says "Elect me because I can do it better and I spent 4 months in Vietnam." Sure.....right. Since 9/11, there have been NO attacks on American soil, thanks to Bush's aggressive foreign policy, vs. Clinton's eight years of head in the sand. Bush also has cut taxes and in a second term, will get us some real Social Security reform and possibly junk our ridiculously complex tax code. While I didn't like the Farm Bill (bloated), No Child Left Behind Act (ditto and an unfair mandate for the states) and Homeland Security Act (another needless level of govt.), the alternative is so unbelievably pathetic and lacking as a human being that he can not even been considered as a county dogcatcher, much less President. He can't even tell the truth about the main theme of his campaign, his four months in Vietnam. He's an anti-capitalist, weak-on-defense lefty who betrayed his country with his false testimony in front of Congress after Vietnam. Electing Kerry will result in: A. higher taxes B. more onerous and unneccessary environmental regulations C. weakness in the face of our enemies. Eight years of Bill Clinton was bad enough. We don't need four years of Carteresque Kerry.
ANTHRAX. Oh right that does not count since some right wing nutzo sent anthrax to liberals in Congress and in the media (and thus was doing the country a favor).
Yes, 8 yrs of Clinton was horrible. I hated the fact that we balanced the budget and had a surplus in his time. I hated welfare reform. I hated that there were 22 million jobs created and that our economy just wouldn't stop improving. I hated all the $ I was making in the stock market. I hated that other countries liked us and respected us. Bush has been much better. I love seeing my stocks go down, I love that we are now public enemy #1 in the Int'l community, and seeing my pay stay flat while oil prices soar is just awesome. I love the huge deficit too so that 15% of my taxes can go to interest on our debt. I love Bush's philosophy of "spend and cut taxes." It makes such financial sense. I could care less about the environment too. Let's just consume, consume, and consume more to maximize the quality of our lives and let future generations deal w/ the lack of energy, crummy environment, and let them have fun figuring out why so much of their taxes goes towards paying off the DEBT which allows to beat our chests while me launch pre-emptive strikes against nations who pose no threat to us whatsoever!!!!!!
yupse...9/11 would have caused such a sour tone to the economy of any President...I love the fact Bush has made our protection his #1 priority...I love the fact that his economic interventions have created jobs, and made an economy that is now steady and strong...I love the fact no child will be left behind through his enormous education reform,...I love the fact he has made a differance in the reliance of handouts versus ownership...I love how I just bought a home this year for the first time,...I also love how home ownership is at a level unseen ever before...I love the fact he went after the evil spite in the middle-east for our security...I love the fact he created the DHS to better target security concerns upon us as a nation...I love the fact Sept. 13th will see the demise of the ill-conceived Clinton gun ban (which Clinton himself later admitted cost so many democratic representatives' jobs) 4 MORE YEARS
For the left, a question: How many Clinton admin public statements were there on national security that mentioned al-Qa'ida between 20 Jan 2000 and 20 Jan 2001? That is a longer period of time than given for Bush. I do not know the answer, but this is just for comparison...though I do suspect the answer is also zero. For the right, another question: Do you think the current state of the economy has anything to do w/ Bush's efforts? Like Clinton in the 90's, I think the latest upsurge has little to due w/ the President. I see the economy now as comparable to right before Bush took office....things are starting to slide in the job market, housing, etc. So if I were you, I wouldn't place the current state of the economy as a sign of Bush's accomplishments unless you enjoy walking on quicksand.
