There is nothing "sudden" about how I feel. And I really have a great deal of compassion for Scott McClellan. The guy, like his boss, the President, is a superb example of the Peter Principal... promoted beyond his ability to do the job. McClellan is one of the sons of a Republican I have some respect for, Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the Comptroller of Texas. twhy77, do you honestly think that this setting and conditions for the Commission to interview the President and Vice President was fair and open?
I see you are living up to your MO when confronted with the truth, sunshine. Oh well. By the way...are you ready for happy hour tomorrow? First one who can't drive home loses!!!
I heard it reported today that Clinton had testified before the 9/11 commission with two of his cohorts in his company: Sandy Berger and the lawyer guy... forget his name. Why do they mock Bush for Cheney and ignore Clinton's 100% increase in aid and support?
You got it. The other guy was Richard Lindsey. Well lookie here liberals! Looks like your big bad boy, Bill Clinton needed TWO, COUNT 'EM TWO, little helpers to guide him through the testimony. Guess he needed more help than Bush in 'keeping his story straight', as the liberal media is so apt to phrase it. This ought to silence the KOOK FRINGE LIBERALS on the issue.
"The commission found the former president forthcoming and responsive to its questions. We appreciate the excellent cooperation he and his associates have given to us," the commission said in a brief statement. http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=44675
No, Bush needed R. Bruce Cheney as well, apparently, which is completely odd and has only been answered (after repeated fair questions as to 'why') by the superlatively odd "body language" reasoning.
So by your logic, Hennessey, Dick Cheney is worth TWO HUMANS? Clinton needs two little helpers to guide him through testimony, while Bush needs only one? I agree with you -- Bush needs less help than Clinton in the truth department. By the way, Hennessey is not a reference to Stanford's President and Google's new board member.
What're Al Gonzales and the two unnamed staffers doing there? Making sure Bush and Cheney don't get too frisky?
I could not care less. You are a trifle, an intellectual feather in the offensive breeze of oilman flatus venting mercilessly from the whitehouse. Bush + 3 advisors, including his puppet master, R. Bruce Cheney for purposes of demonstrating "body language." Please explain this travesty of an explanation once you've received your latest Rove talking points via text message or FAX. Thank you.
Too funny, Trader_J. Bush had Cheney, the White House Counsel, Gonzales, and 2 staffers, who McClellen wouldn't identify or say what their function was. As was noted, Clinton's testimony was was recorded and on the record, and he didn't require the Commission to go to his pad in New York City to get it. But why should the facts matter to you? They never have before.
We could really get technical and count all of the people on the periphery, but obviously they were not the principals here. Sigh... look at the liberals twist and distort! Ain't it fun? They are truly frustrated that the Commission may actually do something good with the information! In their petty little game, the only good that could possibly come out of the 9-11 commission is someone perjuring himself or committing a massive blunder which could cripple the Republicans' chances in November! But sigh, nothing of the sort happened, to the liberals' dismay. What ever will the poor liberals do? What with their cadaverous, flip flopping, French looking candidate with no charisma or moral integrity! Methinks they are destined for a collapse of catastrophic proportions. Want something to compare it to? Think Hornfans after the Red River Shootout. Scary.
* note above the increase in exclamation marks. This is raising the scream in an attempt to disguise the dual lack of content and logic. In fact, the post reverses the cry of "partisan commission!!!1!" to now claim that evil blah-blah liberals don't want the commission to do anything useful. Hilarious. Exactly. We should only reply to T_J if we're getting some sort of amusement out of it. In this thread, he refutes basic arithmetic to scream for his masters on cue. Simply amazing where the methane-laden wind can take him.
"The commission of five Republicans and five Democrats issued a statement saying Bush and Cheney had been "forthcoming and candid" and their input would be of great assistance as it looks to complete a final report by July 26. Two Democrats on the panel, Vice Chairman Lee Hamilton and former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, left the session about an hour early. Hamilton, a former congressman from Indiana, was said to have had a prior commitment to introduce visiting Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin at a lunch." http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&storyID=4990398§ion=news What a joke.
Liberals, let's make this very simple. Give me two words from you, in response to these two questions: 1. Are you glad that Bush and Cheney testified in front of the Commission, so that this information can be used to help learn from the tragedy of 9-11? YES OR NO -- no qualifiers or word games 2. Are you glad that Bush and Cheney's testimony can be used to help make our nation more secure? YES OR NO - - no qualifiers or word games.
I learned a long time ago to take Trader_J for what he is... the resident Conservative Clown. If anyone takes him seriously and becomes angry, you are doing exactly what he wants and making his day. (I apologize to the rational, intelligent and engaged conservatives on the board for lumping him in with you... just pointing out his little niche.)
Yes, it would be a joke if it wasn't such a tragedy. Be nice to have been a fly on the wall during this. I wonder what really caused Kerrey and Hamilton to leave early?
and check this little tidbit from bob kerrey's appearance on the daily show, as reported by NRO. the commission has become completely irrelevant, and compromised by the blatant partisanship of it's members. http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/malkin200404281058.asp -- "Kerrey yukked it up. First, he dished with Stewart about President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney's upcoming private meeting with the commission. When Stewart mocked the president's "buddy system," Kerrey guffawed: "He is bringing his buddy, that's exactly right, for safety." Emboldened by audience applause, Kerrey riffed that it was more like "Screw you, buddy." Asked by Stewart whether people were really blaming each other over the terrorist attacks during closed hearings, Kerrey snorted: "Oh, Jee-zus, yeah." More audience approval._._._. Next, echoing a profanity uttered earlier in the show, Kerrey blurted out with a clownish grin: "Life is [expletive bleeped]." When Stewart proposed that Kerrey ask the vice president, "What the [expletive bleeped] is wrong with you people?" Kerrey cracked up and promised to use the question. And when Stewart called Attorney General John Ashcroft a "big [expletive bleeped]," Kerrey chortled some more."
