Where is UH rated on economics? That's part of it, of course.

I think a lot of it is his 'don't give a sh** attitude.' He doesn't parse words as well as most polititians. THat plays well with some. It doesn't with others. And its certainly doesn't in foreign relations.

Because of his background, (the whole fortunate son thing) i think he's an easy target. He also plays up his Texan rancher image. He doesn't give us the standard pablum we're used to from spokespeople. (He gives us the new and improved version :)).

I just don't buy the whole 'not intelligent' thing.

(Oh why am i defending this man??? -- maybe i really think he's going to buy me a beer?)

We'll have to agree to disagree, I suppose. I can see what you're saying, I just don't agree with it. I think it extends well beyond an " I don't give a ****". I think it's less about what he doesn't give, and more about what he doesn't have to begin with.

macbeth. I'm not sure.. I think I just caught this thread at a wrong time because I just finished finals and I know the grades won't be inflated. Especially since they have specifically made it a point that they do not want to end up like the schools that are inflating so much. Seeing the "top schools" inflate thing just disturbed me. In order for me to be average it takes a lot more work than it would if I was at UT. I talk to my friends there enough to realize that. Everyone is smart therefore you have to work hard to make sure you are average compared to if you were somewhere else that you could be average without doing anything. I will just have a very hard time believing that GW's average grades at Yale woudln't have been higher somewhere else. I believe the below average yale student woudl be in the top 10% of most schools. I work my tail off and if anything my grades are deflated at times. Heck I just got a 94.4 average in a class and was given an A minus. 3.7 gpa instead of 4.0. For a 94.4! Not all the top schools inflate.. my schools prides themselves as being one of the few true graders and for that reason grad schools add pts to the gpa. You may have just meant ivy anyways. I'm not sure what a top school is considered and if number 19 is even top.. have a nice day :)

macbeth.. I have no idea where they are rated but what you said is basically what ive been trying to say.. you said where they are ranked is part of it.. that's what im trying to say. the lesser ranked school is going to have less difficult econ classes

i dont argue that a lot of schools have inflation . i just think they are harder to begin with..

I have really derailed this thread, and I apologize for that.

GW he is a smart fellow

b-bob.. tier 2 isnt too bad.. I get people all the time who assume that I am stupid and at a tier 3 school because they have never heard of the school. Their first reaction is.. you didn't get into a&m or ut?

back on topic. I'd sit down and have a drink with G. W. Bush. We'd talk about his policies and what is next. Then we'd talk about the Astros being better than the Rangers. Next we'd talk about this discussion and I'd ask for a picture with him so I could get a rockheard award. We'd then move on to the board to check it out only to find out he has to be a registered user. After that I'd let him post on my name so you all could talk to the president. Then clutch would ban me for having someone else posting on my name. .

Naw, I'm very happy here (as if you couldn't tell by my damned post count?). Seriously, we do a lot more teaching than at a top school, but then my grant pressure is a lot lower. I get grants and people get happy, which is cool.

twhy77, email me. (letter symbol above). i'll tell ya all 'bout it if you're interested.

B-Bob, you do have it pretty good where you are at. You have certainly worked on some fascinating projects and you also have some free time, by the looks of things. Don't take either for granted.

Sorry, meant to have one line in bold, overlooking the fact that they all are...and the YoYao wasn't aimed at you, but suggesting that it could have been Bush, when you think about the similar creative vocabularies and areas of interest.

mc mark. We'll see how long it lasts. I just turned 21 in March. I've been way too busy since then to get drunk lol. It seems like an expensive habit to start, and college is expensive as it is.. especially since I had to get a new vehicle. Hey, I needed a luxury type vehicle.. purely an educational expense.

Then again I am in tennessee. I'm sure my parents wouldn't notice charges from the jack daniels factory. anyone need me to pick something up straight from the factory before I come to Houston tomorrow :D
