It looks like I'll have some heavy reading to do. This will be fun. By the time I've found the good ones and read them, though, it will be time for the 2008 election.

I feel the exact same way. Outnumbered and outgunned on this board, we fight the good fight. I get tired of the piling on that goes on here against you, myself, TJ, basso and the others by the liberals (some of whom I have a profound respect for and some of whom I despise), but it's like a sign in my great-aunt's beauty shop, "I just hang around here to see what happens next."

So by this you mean you don't believe most of the stuff you write?

    Somebody call bamaslammer a Waaaaaaambulance.

The only conservatives who get riled on are those that deserve it. Both Trader_Georgia and yourself came to this board acting like asses and have since not received any respect from most people here. Even though I do it many more times than I should, especially with Trader_Georgia, it's a direct result of how y'all started here. That doesn't excuse my behavior, nor others, but it does explain it. And that explanation doesn't lead to a general anti-conservative bias here.

Notice others like giddyup, basso, Mr. Clutch, Refman, MadMax, twhy77, goophers, etc. don't have widespread spats with liberals like you and Trader_Georgia do. Sure they have their own personal rivals or spats here and there, but it's not a widespread problem.

Sometimes I play devil's advocate, but I believe in around 85-90 percent of what I write here. I'm not whining at all, just seconding a point that the right feels vastly outnumbered and often marginalized here. We endure constant insults and rudeness, but when we fight fire with fire, we are further demeaned as being uncivil and being asses. I often defend the president on some issues because no one else will, but I've criticized him on principle more than any of the other right-leaning folks.

This reminds me of something I was thinking today. The conservatives have largely left the board. Basso, and Mr. Clutch, really do stick in most threads and argue in good faith. I get the feeling that the threads get a little too attack oriented in tone for Mad Max and he doesn't always participate, but when he does it's always quality material. We used to have Treeman, who usually argued in good faith especially up to a certain point. I think the board used to be really balanced, but lately the 'libs' or more accurately the anti-war/anti-bush crowd is in the majority.

As for those conservatives that have stuck around. One of them is TJ, the conservative clown prince(and I seriously mean that in a good way, TJ.) and super sensationalist Texxx. So serious debate with substance behind it is difficult, and I would probably feel similar to what Bamma does if I was on his side of the political spectrum.

I don't know about the right wingers being lambasted with constant insults or any of that because I don't really see it that much. But I can understand that those that are in a minority and being ganged up might feel like that's the case.

Well, I don't remember ever calling conservatives p*ssies and what not, so I know I can't be counted as one of the attackers. And there's no way to deny that T_J set the tone that has led us to the current state of things.

No, you're one of the ones on the other side of the dial that are in my respected, non-p***y category. I don't have a problem with you and some of the others. MacB is, although he claims to not be a liberal and I think he does the devil's advocate thing a bit, is thoughtful and non-insulting. GV76 is hilarious. But some of these guys and I won't name names are just as bad as you claim TJ is.

Well I remember when it seemed like I was the only one on the bbs, who didn't think 9/11 changed everything and warned everyone not to let Bush use your patriotism against you. That was the jist of virtually my first post on the hangout, which was made a day or two after 9/11/

I don't remember whining because I was outnumbered. I pretty much expect that in Houston and am comfortable with that , though I did complain, and at times too personally, about their positions.

I still think your garden variety conservative with Texas connections just isn't used to arguing with liberals and tend to think that the conservative hordes they live among have common sense normal views that must be correct since everyone seems to have them.

Now Bush' s Iraq War, which he rammed through against the wishes of nearly half the population, has brought out the opposition and started the demise of the hard core right -- and not just on this bbs.

Those conservatives who have any stones or convictions will quit whining and try to defend their positions.

Well, I won't defend the actions of people who resort to that, but I won't call them on it either if they're going toe to toe and lick for lick with guys like T_J.

O'Neill cleared in use of classified documents
Probe faults Treasury Department for releasing secret papers
    From Suzanne Malveaux
    CNN Washington Bureau
Friday, February 6, 2004 Posted: 8:20 PM EST (0120 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill has been cleared of wrongdoing in the use of classified documents as source material for a book that portrayed President Bush in an unflattering light, Treasury Department sources told CNN on Friday.

The investigation by the department's inspector general found that though O'Neill did receive classified material from the department after his resignation, the lapse was the fault of the department, not O'Neill, the sources said.

In a letter sent to members of Congress on Friday, Treasury Secretary John Snow said the documents "were not properly reviewed before their release" and that "we are taking corrective action concerning those documents," according to sources.

Asked for comment, Treasury spokeswoman Anne Womack Colton would say only that during the review of the material released to O'Neill, "weaknesses in handling and safeguarding of sensitive information were brought to the attention of Secretary Snow."
