    For the sake of readability:

These numbers seem easily checkable; if anybody wants to disprove them I invite you to step up to the task.

As I said before, the text of the speech is in the Congressional Record and was delivered on the floor of the House, you can look it up yourself if you like, . Most of the information concerning budgetary data is easily verifiable though various government sources. The fact that the "liberal" media hasn't put out a wire service story on it yet is hardly surprising as it.

I regret saying "if this is true" when I orginally posted the article. The only reason why I did so was because it was from Salon.com, which is an openly liberal publication and admits it. Unfortunately, that left the opportunity for clowns like TJ to come in and create a diversion.

The fact that a bill with 373 co-sponsors in a 435 member body cannot be put to a vote is pretty damning IMO, and par for the course as far as the Republican congressional leadership is concerned. (again, go to THOMAS and look it up if you doubt it)

I don't think this is defensible at all.

Just think, even with the economy recovering, we'll need to trim spending across the board. Vet benefits could get hammered even more.

I would like to see the memos were folks rationalized this as a viable target to save money over all others.
