Burning Question - making a compilation cd from lots of CDs??? HELP

    Ripping to WAV files to disk and then burning them to CDR should guarantee zero quality lost. Right?

    I use MusicMatch to rip and can recommend it.

    Another consideration is how much music you want (like in minutes) and how many CDRs do you want to end up with. If you only want one CDR and you also want more than 75 minutes of music (of lesser quality), you will need to do more work. You can rip WAVs to disk and then convert to MP3s (some software may allow this to be done in one step). When creating MP3s, you need to decide the bit rate which really is the density. Lower bit rates mean lower density, lower quality, and smaller file size. 160 bps will roughly yield 50% density and a MP3 file that is half the size of the corresponding WAV. Converting the MP3 back to WAV will then allow the CDR to contain twice the music at a lower quality.
