Remember this though: the Bulls lost Hinrich, and neither Rose nor Brewer are good 3pt shooters. They are REALLY going to have to play Korver a lot if they want any shot at winning. And that's going to hurt their defense immeasurably. Utah was able to get by with Brewer because everyone else in the backcourt AND their center were able to step out and hit threes, keeping teams honest. And for those of you Lowry-haters out there, the Rockets will be able to get by with him starting also, because Martin/Budinger and Ariza/Battier can also do the same.
they might have the best defensive team in the league next year with thibs leading a group of noah, brewer, rose, deng and the rest... but spreading the floor is still a main concern. korver is only one guy and he won't play 48 minutes a game.
Great signing. I love how jokers like Travis Outlaw can get twice as much money as a player like Brewer. The Bulls will not regret this move which is more than I can say about a lot of free agent signings this offseason.
Agree on both of these. They will win games by shutting down other teams and using Rose & Boozer to close games out. Their ultimate success will depend on Rose taking it to another level on both ends of the floor. They aren't a championship contender yet. The Bulls coached by Thibs will be the kind of squad other teams hate to play. After filling out their roster, they will contend for home-court advantage. It will take a big mid-season move or an acquisition next summer for them to reach elite status. I'm just glad Rose got some help and now has a decent coach. I expect him to be a different player.
Is it just me, or is this Bulls team shaping up to be really similar to the 2004 Pistons? Great defenders at every position, efficient offensive players, a lot of tenacity, star-level PG and PF, a couple of really good players off the bench. I think they could be really good.
If Derrick Rose now possesses a realiable three point shot as he claimed, they can get away with Brewer starting at two. I always liked Brewer's game -- I understand why DWill was not happy when the Jazz gave away Brewer basically for free.
