I agree, we might not move him but it won't be for lack of trying. His contract, RFAgency and play are making it hard for the Rockets to move him without adding another player(s) to the mix and get max value. Come deadline, it's 50/50 whether he is here or not.
I admit that I don't know much about Asik's game. Is he good enough, or at least has the potential, to be a starting center for a contending team? Because that's what we are looking for. IMO, we either get a quick-fix veteran starter or a guy who has the potential to be really good. Otherwise, it's not going to improve the team much.
Hey, I hope that's not the case either but if Adelman is adamant that Brooks ain't going anywhere then I'm assuming Brooks is insurance. Though: Is also a possibility as well. I just can't see the Rockets moving Brooks for anything other than a draft pick. I don't think any GM out there who's been interested in Brooks would trade a big (especially a Center) for Brooks...even with fillers.
(I posted this in the general Chronicle article thread, but I figured this was a more appropriate place to put it. Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I haven't read this entire thread.) The ONLY way I even consider trading Courtney Lee to Chicago, if I'm Morey, is if the Bulls are sending back the 2012 first rounder they got from Charlotte in the Tyrus Thomas deal. The pick is lottery protected in 2012, but the protection slowly burns off over time (top-12 protected in 2013, top-10 protected in 2014, top-8 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft). If Jordan decides to slash salary (the team is losing money every year) and rebuild, that pick could end up being a nice mid-lottery pick in a few years. I love Lee, but I'd consider the following trade: Courtney Lee and the 2011 HOU/LAC 2nd round pick for Omer Asik and the 2012 CHA 1st round pick Unfortunately, I bet Chicago highly values that CHA pick and won't trade it unless it's for a major difference-maker. We can only hope that the Bulls (on the cusp of contending in the East) are desperate enough for a young, starting-caliber SG that they'd give up the pick for Lee.
You know... with T-mac actually playing, Chicago would not make it to the second round of the playoffs. So it is written. So it will be done!
Trading Lee for Asik(+pick) not only gives the Rockets a true defensive center, it also opens up playing time for Terrence Williams who I think has much more upside. I'm not sure I'd even be so particular about getting that Charlotte pick, though by all means try to get back as much as possible.
More like the pick would be the bonus. Omer's potential is like a combination of Marc and Pau Gasol. He will never be the offensive player that Pau is, as his range isn't that great but he is tenacious in the paint. Chicago really needs a 2 bad, and we have depth at the 2-3 spot and no true 5. This trade makes sense in so many ways.
Lee could make the difference for the Bulls in the playoff picture... Omer would be a nice piece plus our 2nd team lineup could be TWIll AB Bud Pat Omer... I think thats a huge upgrade if we got a pick I'd like that mucho.
I really like Lee but I also really would like to see TWill get some play time and this would allow him to move as a back up PG and Brooks to his more natural position at 2. If the first round pick is included I jump on it. Lowry / Twill / Ish Martin / Brooks Battier / Bud Scola / Hill / PPAT Hayes / Asik / Miller We could go big with these guys too with TWill Martin PPAT Hill Asik This trade also would let us hold onto to a lot of our youth and even make another trade after this to slim the roster. That Charlotte pick will likely be top 12 or so in 2012 and that year promises to be a good class. With this trade I don't think we instantly get better but it shows a direction of youth and allows our young guys to grow.
How about Hayes, Lee, and something for Luol Deng? Even though Deng is having a great year, they still have to worry about that contract. And, we're supposed to be doing 2-for-1, 3-for-1 deals, not 1-for-2.
On Defense, he still makes a mistake or two here and there, but what he lacks in skill he has made up for with hussle and determination. He would have trouble starting in Rick Adelman's system right away because of the complexity of his offense. -That would be my main concern is that Adelman would not find a way to get him significant minutes, but he would be a major upgrade on defense if he can find his way on the court. He embodies the type of player the Rockets like in his hussle, effort, and overall good team player. He has potential to be more on offense, but he most likely wont destroy many teams offensively. I see him developing a consistent jumper and maybe a jump hook, but his foot work and explosiveness is not such that he will be a threat in the post on offense. -his skillset today would be comparitive to that of a Andris Biedrins with more hussle but he is young enough to where he could be a bit better. He is both a quick fix and a prospect at the same time on his rookie contract. -I say its a good pickup for the price if the 1st Round pick is included.

No one is dumb enough to offer to take on that awful contract. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm
I agree. I would be ok with Lee for Asik. I like Lee a lot, but he's not fit comfortably within RA's system. He still has upside, but with Kmart ahead of him, he's not really going to get a shot to develop here. So unless we trade Kmart for a big, I don't mind moving Lee for Asik. As for Asik, it's most likely a lateral move, but its at least for a position of need. Try getting that pick first, but I don't mind this trade either way. I don't think this move alone puts us in the playoffs, but I'm pretty sure this won't be the only move Morey would make...
What are you smoking? The guy is undersized and shown very little when he's out there for the Rockets. Asik,Korver, or Brewer would be targets if all Bulls wanted was Lee. Brewer made some crucial plays (slashing to the rim and scoring/offensive rebounding) that killed us a couple PlayOffs ago. Korver is a dead shot 3 pt specialist better than any one the Rockets have had the past decade. Asik is a 7ft Turkey player that has obvious game based on some Bulls game that would improve and impact our front court game right away.
His contract is comparable to that of Kevin Martin and Iguodala. Neither of their teams are begging for them to be taken off their hands, and there are definitely teams "dumb enough" to take any of them.
