Yes, I think Chuck Hayes is better than a second-year player who is only getting 23MPG and dropping 7/6 a night. Hayes has proven to be one of the best post defenders in the NBA, despite his height. Chuck Hayes, in my eyes, holds Udonis Haslem type value. I would be open to dealing him, but it would have to be a noticeable upgrade in my mind. I wouldn't mind one bit if Chuck Hayes is our starting PF for the next four years -- he's that good.
Yea, Taj has turned into an excellent defensive player and while probably not as good as Chuck with positioning and shut down defense, he is a better shotbocker and offers tons more on offense.
well said. And more importantly, Chuck is no longer sucks on offense. and his passing is severely underrated or not mentioned enough on this board. Someone needs to start a "Chuck Hayes and the art of the outlet pass" on this board and put up some videos.
C. Lee would make the bulls more legit, he's better than Brewer and Korver. But i would be hesitant on trading Lee for Asik straight up. Lee to me has potential to be a 18 ppg a night.

Alex Kennedy: Also, many teams have been calling about Aaron Brooks, but a source close to the point guard doesn't believe he'll be dealt before deadline. about 6 hours ago via web from Tampa, FL Rick Adelman?
He's really come into his own this year. While his defense has always been a constant, his offense has not. However, this year he's seemingly turned the corner. He's not missing "gimme layups" -- he's converting reverse layups against guys 6" taller than him now. His high-post passing skills have also made him a bigger threat in Adelman's motion offense. I was always in favor of someone replacing Chuck. Now days, I'm starting to think he should be our starting PF for the foreseeable future.
Wonders a contract year can do? I love Chuck. I hope he gets paid and gets the respect that he deserves.
One quick question - is Aaron Brooks better than Lee? I know I am comparing a PG and a SG. but still. I just want to know what the board thinks.
Chuck's always been my favorite player, but I think his scoring should be considered somewhat flukey. His free throw shooting has regressed back to "very poor" in the last month. I would expect the rest of his offense to also regress back to or close to his career norms at some point this season. I'd like to keep Chuck on the team, but the only things I will bank on is he's a very smart team defender, a great lockerroom leader, strong post defender when he's not completely outmatched physically, and good passer in the high post. The rest are iffy and may come and go.
I think a lot of teams would love to have Lee. Lee puts up good numbers for only 18 minutes per game. Good shooting percentage and plays some defense, and he comes really cheap. I doubt the Hornets are getting many inquiries about Ariza.
While his FT% may have regressed lately, other parts of his offensive game (scoring/passing) have not. In fact, he's been playing better post-injury than he was before (FT shooting aside).
In a vacuum, yes. There's a reason Brooks gets more minutes. If you're talking about value/trade value, it's a trickier question. Lee has another inexpensive year, whereas Brooks is about to be a free agent. Depending on what the opposing team wants, it wouldn't shock me if trading Lee could fetch more than trading Brooks.
Chuck has had stretches in the past (first couple seasons in the league) in which he was scoring at high efficiency. He was asked recently what's been the big difference. His answer: confidence. Well, confidence can be a fragile thing for some players, which is more than evident in his struggles at the free throw line. If Chuck hits a rough patch where he's missing shots and his confidence erodes, that could send his offense into a deep downward spiral.
If last year was not a fluke, then he is definitely better than Lee. AB has power to carry a team, spark a team in a hurry.... he can leave most backup PG's in the rear view. Now.. I am not so sure if he is really ready to accept his role as backup SG in the team. I believe Ish will handling backup pg job and Brooks backup sg. Brooks can be very useful, if he just shoots and play basketball and not worry about other things. While Brooks is not a good defender, I expect him to be able to defend BACKUP sg' when he gets his quickness back. Two main concerns: Which Brooks is real? Last year or this year? and second concern: Can he accept his smaller, but even more important role? Landry was praised all year long by the league even though he was coming off the bench... he can be as important to the team.
