There IS one thing to consider. T-Mac's agent will be contacting the Rockets, sooner or later, about a contract extension. At this point, if the Rockets say "Well, about that... We were thinking no." then T-Mac and his agent will go to the press and his value would drop to the point where letting him walk would be our only option and next season becomes a total waste because of it. Also, cap space in 2010 could be very useless if Bosh, Wade and Lebron all sign extensions before it. That's what I expect will happen. Realistically, what are we going to do with capspace in 2010? Unless we keep Ron Artest and get two semi-star players (say Michael Redd and Chauncey Billups). Realistically, I can see us dealing T-Mac and a pick for Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich this coming summer if we don't make it to the Western Finals this season. This team would have less concentration risk (injuries-wise) and could compete with anyone, plus Battier would become expendable in this high-scoring offense where our PG and SG can drain the 3 with ease: Yao Scola/Landry Artest/Battier Gordon Hinrich/Brooks We could rebuild VERY nicely this summer if we wanted to, to continue taking shots at the championship. OR we could wait for the following season and summer to do it and this whole thing COULD become a mess. Thoughts?
head and hayes must go. i would package them for one guy. use that space to bring mutumbo back. we need a good defensive-minded guard. those two make 3.9m combined. those two for charlie bell. or even sefolosha and cedric simmons. or james jones when he returns. heck bring bogans back with foyle's contract. all these options work with the salaries. thoughts?
QFT I am seriously starting to dislike this guy. You don't need to ask the same question in three different threads. I mean seriously copy and pasting in three threads is more annoying than Luther missing shots or Chuck having a bad game.
It would take an hour to point out all the idiocy in that article starting from quoting Adelman out of context to his suggestion that we might be interested in Larry Hughes to 'bolster our depth' or whatever rhetoric he used to obscure the absurdity of the notion. I loved the irony of this best though: Just one day after Yao drops his routine egg against an NBDL frontline. Sorry folks. If Yao is your best player - forget about it.
Wow. Also, this article is a huge joke. It's not even close to realistic. To get Tmac, we would have to receive one of the following things: 1. A good young player who we value as much as some of the top guys in the 2010 class (most likely not happening) 2.Good veteran players that would keep us in contention until 2010 and a top draft pick (the veteran talent would have to expire in 2010 as well so this is unlikely) 3. A signed Kobe Bryant jersey (no chance the Lakers do this)
Never take anything that comes from Sam "Trader" Smith and take it to mean anything. This insightless hack does nothing else but dream up trades and finally lost his job at the Tribune after showing he couldn't submit a single article that could be deemed "journalism" He's lived off the fame of his Jordan book for over a decade now.
This article is garbage, purely made up. Say what you want about him (t-mac) but this team needs him to win BIG. We finally have a deep team that can give him help in the playoffs for once and everyone wants to get rid of him. We will not get fair value by trading him. We definetly won't get someone who can score 30 when necessary, draw the attention he does and have the court vision he does. Come April and May is when it matters, and he always steps it up then. Let's hope the depth remains and clicks at the right time. Go Rockets!
it's stupid.. but at least the Rasheed/filler and Marion deals would make some sense for us to make..
QFT. every rocket fan needs to read this and chillax on those trade rumors. this IS the first time this team has surrounded him with good players. give him a chance to see what he can do. and that's why he's trying to be as healthy as he can be. so he can do something with this blessing.
smith's lunacy aside....... surely the rox would consider a trade for Macgrady that isn't a salary dump and offer 85c in the dollar of a fit performing McGrady..... the biggest issue is the get decent value Mcgrady will need to rehad get fit and play well before the trade deadline and then management and fans will 'believe' in him again and he won't go anywhere, until the next poorly rehabbed injury that will prompt trade requests my guess is they will hold out for him to comeback this season and keep the core together for a hopefully past first round run this season......if he doesn't come back fit and able or suffers another injury they will shop him in the offseason, along with deciding what to do with Ron
I know that article was pure fantasy, but you have to admit, the idea of Shaq and Yao on the same team is interesting in a car crash kind of way.
I think this guy is clueless. He doesn't know much about team, and likes to talk nonsene. These types of articles shouldn't be published, especially on sites like NBA.com. It's just cause trade rumors attract readers.
Some people around the country might still believe in MCGrady. Every one around here did and still has faith in SF3. Whats the difference? Oh yeah a team would take TMac before SF3 in a NY minute.
If we trade McGrady, there is no hope. Yao can't get into his sets without him, the rockets would be terrible
