there is only one player I'd want on the cavs

    and thats lebron

    they are not trading him

(oh i'd want Rob Kurz as well if he is still on the cavs roster)

Z would not fit this team at all he is slow, not as big of a threat in the post like yao but he can spread the floor. I never been that enamored with Z personally

The question, can it win a title to be the smartest man in NBA? Risking is a good thing sometimes.

My first post... so be gentle...

Z is on the downside of his career, slow, etc. Unless we received a draft pick, and a young big man, this seems like a pretty bad move for the Rockets- don't see DM pulling the trigger on this one.

    Welcome to the board.

I agree, and I don't think Morey would pull the trigger on this. It's all about perceived value imho for players and there is no way that the value of Tmac is the same as for Z. So there would definitely need to be a lot more incentive offered by Cleveland than just him for our boy genius GM to make a deal.

West only has 500k guaranteed next season. Powe's is a team option. Both very tradeable.

If the choice is between letting McGrady walk next season for nothing or getting expirings+picks I'll take the picks anyway. I'm hoping for a better deal, but IF I had to choose between these 2 scenarios I'd go for the picks.

problem is that picks don't carry salary to counter his 22 million.

and the salaries aren't worth it.

you move T-mac only if you can get a guy who is an improvement on one of our current positions. That's it.

    Otherwise, just let him walk.

Neither of those guys were mentioned as guys the Cavs would trade.

They mentioend only Parker, Moon and Gibson.

Z+West+Gibson+picks for Tmac works. Only Gibson's $4mil is guaranteed next season.

Do you think the cavs would hold up the trade over those guys?

Sam Smith does make a pretty good point in spite of himself.

A healthy Tmac has his talents, to be sure, but he doesn't really fit in with what the Rockets are doing. Maybe he'll learn but since he isn't a long-term option for the Rockets anyway....

As far as the Cavs, well, if they traded Z, that means Flopejao would be backup center. Shaq is 83 years old and needs an able backup. (I don't think he was the answer the Cavs needed, but oh well.)

    I wouldn't mind Z as a year-long rental at C, but I wouldn't see getting him outside of a three-way trade (Golden State?)

It's all academic anyway. The only trade scenario Sam Smith ever guessed at was when the Bulls traded for Jalen Rose 7 or 8 years ago.

I would agree with you the quote in the article says something about tmac slowing this new team down. Shaq would do that x10

I am comforted by the fact that Morey would never do a deal like this EVER!

Sam Smith has been notorious for making articles like this. I don't remember the details of his previous trade suggestion involving McGrady, but it was almost as looney as the current trade he's talking about.

There is no one on that CAVS roster besides LeBron that anyone in the league should be interested in. Those guys are hopeless without Lebron. They were a title contender last year with 60 something wins, but minus LeBron from the equation and you get lottery.

How the hell can someone average 42/8/8 on 50+% FG (or something similar) and still lose a series? That Cavs team is a joke. I really hope LeBron leaves to New York. The NBA needs the Garden to get into "classical" days.

I can't believe there was a chance that either Delonte West or Mo Williams would enter the all-star game. Those guys are scrubs at best that, if the phrase "a product of" had ever made sense" would be a product of LeBron and Mike Brown's stupidity.

Plus, Mo Williams looked like a fool when he came out making guarantees and disrespecting the Magic, while contributing very little for the Cavaliers. Embarrassing. Stupid. Whatever. Cavaliers. No Thanks.

Not that I am advocating the trade just a thought that sweep through my mind BUT he really wouldn't slow the team down because he would be the rebounder and defender who could start the fast break. The problem with the Suns is that they tried to make him a post up option and thus slowed down there "O", instead of running around him they tried to run through him...BIG MISTAKE.

Seems like I am the minority here, but I am looking for a changed McGrady in a couple of weeks. He can see what our new style of play is doing to everyone. So can RA & DM & everyone else. TMac (or anyone for that matter) should know better than to try and change the good thing we've got going here. If he did, why would he get any minutes? I think RA would bench him in a second if he were slowing down this team. Imagine ... 'Team Player TMac'. That could be wicked!

Sorry man such a thing doesn't exist, at least not at this tempo. T-mac is not going to be able to keep up and is going to want to slow it down to prevent injuring himself again. I really don't think its about winning for T-mac anymore, its just about proving that he can still play for next years bidders.

Rockets would probably get a good young player + bad contract for Tracy.
