The Bulls can offer two max players a supporting cast of Rose and Noah. The Heat, with a little more effort, can offer two max players a chance to play with Dwyane Wade. NY can offer two max players a supporting cast of Danilo Galinari, Toney Douglas, Wilson Chandler, and Eddy Curry.

I'm loving the NY picks right now.

I agree with you that the Grizz may not want Gay to leave for nothing but what if NY makes him a "godfather" offer? NY could offer him a max deal and that might be too much to swallow for a small market team like Memphis. Then who would want to trade for Rudy Gay making 15 mil or so for 4-5 years?

The Grizz will have to offer Rudy a extension for a contract like that. the RFA deal, they will match and he'll play for that season. Then for the 2011-12 season he will be a UFA unless the Grizz can extend his contract.

...well they can offer him that extra year so your right that Miami is in a better position IF money/contract length is the issue but they can't sell the "we are your best shot to be an immediate contender" card like Chicago now can.

One swap option (2011). One pick (2012).

It's a scary thought but looking more and more likely. I hope Lebron gets guilted into staying in Cleveland because a roster of Rose-Lebron-Bosh-Noah sounds ridiculous.

    My dream scenario
    1 LeBron signs. No SnT
    2 Bosh signs. No Snt
3 They trade Luol Deng for shooting guard help. (The Deng for Pietrus/Gortat rumor makes no sense for the Magic).

A starting lineup of Rose, LeBron, Bosh, Noah and Betty White would be a championship contender.

If the Bulls sign Lebron AND Bosh, it becomes almost impossible for anyone else to beat them. Rose is just scratching the surface of what he can do and I was really impressed by Noah in the plaoffs.

For the sake of competitive basketball in the NBA, I hope that they don't get Lebron.

YES! Lebron and Bosh go to the Bulls.

Now we need Amare/Johnson to head to Miami.

    Knicks get NOTHING!

We keep building awesome assets in the draft...

To my knowledge, it should go like this:

    1. Rudy Gay can sign anywhere he wants to any amount and years that the CBA allows.

    2. The Grizzlies have the right to match the contract assuming that they made the initial qualifying offer. Grizzlies also hold his bird rights so they are allowed to sign him outright to up to a max deal with max years if they both so choose.

    3. It there are no offers, Rudy Gay can take the 1-year qualifying offer anytime (unlikely) and then become a UFA next year.

    4. But if the Knicks offer him 5-year max contract and the Grizzlies match, they are bound to that same contract. And good luck with trading Rudy Gay signed to a max contract in this economy and with the new CBA approaching

edit. And this could be very well the last year these rules are in place.
