Yeah, because the veterans like Juwan and Deke, and hustle guys like Shane and Chuck, and even guys out of shape like Tsakalidis aren't exhausted enough...

Yao has to play to get better. You can't just schedule more practices and tire the team out more than they probably already are.

Play him, just a little, in this game. It will ignite the crowd, it's against a slow, half court Spurs team.

I don't think anyone who wants him to play is asking for his usual 38 minutes or whatever and 26 and 9 but let him play a little!

I agree- do not bring him back to quick-we are a contender and need Yao in top shape for playoffs.

It is extremely risky to try to get in game shape by playing. slow - steady conditioning is the key.

It has been my experience that when players are given a time table by the medical team, and he heals up faster then the prognosis, it will continue as a trend throughout his career. If they are slow healers, generally, they will heal slowly throughout his career. The healing process does slow down with age and/or the presence of other disease processes.

Even at 100% healthy, Yao's defense is not as effective as Deke's. If he's not in good shape, his offense is just so so. To MHO, his total efficiency was slipping prior to his injury, mostly because of the wearness along with the season. JVG did a good job this year leading the Rockets in to five best teams in the west, but I'm always among those critical to his personnel recognition and rotation management. JVG is aiming for win now, but sometimes he's just using the wrong way or hard way which eventually hurt the team.
Don't get me wrong, I have full confidence in Yao to bring back the 26/10 monster we've been seeing and even better. But rushing him back will not help the team win but rather adding risk to get him reinjured.
I can't wait to see Yao go back on court myself, but I'd rather him take it slow for the rockets' sake. Do I want to see him tonight on court against Spurs? Hell no. Whatever you're reasoning to support this, **** you!

people who want him to stay in street clothes are just afraid to face reality.
if you can play, you can play... sitting him on the bench only prolongs any long-term effects of the injury.

Yao's efficiency slipping may have something to do with Tmac not playing with him for a handful of games, forcing Yao to take more difficult shots.

For all we know, Yao may have been ready 2 weeks ago, all we are going off of is the cautiousness of the doctors and the team. Why lay another layer of wasted time on his return? He needs to get into shape, and get some playing time in with Tracy and the team, so we can "catch up". Tracy is tiring himself out more without Yao on the court.

If he's ready, he's ready. I trust management. Play ball!

BTW, he probably didn't play against Denver due to the elevation, and quickness of the Nuggets.

it's time, it's time for him to get back out there and re-injure his leg so
you dudes can blame it all on JVG.

BECAUSE YOU KNOW THATS WHAT YALL ARE WAITING FOR, THATS HOW YALL OPERATE.

Like someone else said no matter when Yao comes back if he gets injured again, the yahoos will say he was rushed. If he came back next season and got injured people would say he was rushed. It's Yao time now!!

the way i see it t's like picking up a minor injury during a game but deciding to play on. playing on worsens the injury to the point when the game is over and you complain of some discomfort only to learn you're out for the season.

if yao can get another day of rehab, another night of rest. i say let him have that.

Chron says Rockets will not practice again until Tuesday. So maybe the game at Boston will be his return.

It is a no win situation. If they wait another month, and he comes back and isnt in shape for the playoffs, then people will say they dragged it out to long and it cost the rockets. If he is ready, then play him. If he is not, then sit him.

    DECOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No for real, if the doctors feel he's ready then we should play him. Let him play a little at game speed, see how he feels, see what his movement is like then go from there.

how many times have we not heard about changes inthe starting lineup until game time?

I doubt he plays, and if he does it wont be more than a few minutes.

but we arent gonna know till the pregame comes on at 7pm.

Van Gundy gives alot of days off. There aren't alot of practices each week. They even have 0 practice weeks.
