It's not as if Bull called a press conference to say this. He was asked a question and he responded truthfully...I respect Bull for that.

    BimaThug,

If Bull is going to take the $1 million, then we would renounce him, free up the entire $2.96 million for Dream, etc., and then go over the cap to sign him for the veteran minimum. My guess is the Rockets don't want to renounce him, and want to pay him $3-4 million with his Bird rights. This is why they are only offering Dream $4.1 million.

I wish the situation would get resolved quickly too.

But it's not only Hakeem that needs to stop delaying. The Rockets need to stop delaying with an offer better than 4.1 mil.

I'm sick of this. All Hakeem cares about is himself, if he cared about keeping the team intact he and his agent would be asking about contracts that would give Dream the maximum amount of dollars and keep the team intact. If Dream wants to leave then let him go. Forget this nostalgia trip, I'm sick of Dream and his agent dragging this out and possibly costing us our FAs. If he wants to stay sign. If he wants to go just say so and get it over with.

I absolutely agree with RocksMillenium,Olajuwon only cares about himself.CD and Rudy are wasting their time, and the rest of the free agents won't be waiting much longer. If Taylor,Norris, and Anderson decide to leave because of Hakeem even if he comes back, then we will be the laughing stock of the league.

I can't believe that they would pay bull 3-4 mill and only offer Dream 4 mill. That is just plain stupid.

-LOL. Exactly. Oh, but Hakeem "only plays 50-60 games" and Bullard, the defensive wizard, plays all 82. So I guess he's worth more.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Wes Unseld once said that he couldn't take Elvin Hayes criticizing his play if he wasn't playing well or focused, even though by rights Hayes was the only player on the Bullets that was Unselds equal.

In fact, he said the criticism from one of the veteran bench guys, who's name I forget, was the most effective in motivating him.

Or maybe it was Hayes saying that He couldn't take Unseld's criticism. I don't remember which one, but it was one of those two.

Or maybe Bull actually gives a **** about the team, maybe he's showing loyalty to the organization.

The only thing is, as I see it, crticizing a player for basketbakk reasons is different than criticizing him for buisness reasons. In my mind, there is NO WAY Bullard should get involved in this situation..For good or ill, Hakeem is making a decision that will likely effect the rest of his playing career, and has the right to take as long as he wants...Also, Hakeem isn't forcing the Rockets to do anything, if they don't want to wait for him, they have options...And I don't see Bullard saying that the Rockets should hurry up and excercise those options...What next, will Bullard be telling Hakeem how much he should be signing for, or for how long, or whatever...really, I have to reiterate, none of his affair...

Bullard will sign for the 1 mill veteran minimum next season. Bullard made close to 3 mill last season, but Dream made 16 mill. How can you say that Dream is getting offered the same or close to the same as Bullard? He is not. In fact, if you work the math, Dream was payed 5 times less than Bullard. They are likely offering around 4-6 mill a season to Dream for this contract, which is (*gasp*) about 5 times what Bullard will make.

It is all totally consistent. Did you think that 16 mil for Dream last season was not enough?

Bull was responding to a question though. I don't think he offered this up unsolicited.

Besides, this is a basketball issue. It affects the team the Rockets can put on the court next year.

No, I don't think it's a basketball issue..By that definition, any and every decision is a basketball decision. These guys know the way it works, and don't encroach on the way each other make their living...They are seperate issues. It's really not Bullard's place to comment, irrespective of whether he volunteered it or was asked. That's another aspect of the biz that Bullard should know by now...Questions are always going to be asked, choosing which ones to answer is part of the process.

Oh good GOD. Matt Bullard is a third stringer who does nothing but shoot threes. If not for Hakeem, he would have been in the CBA years ago. This guy has no right to criticize the guy who is basically responisble for getting him a job.

If Matt can't sign until Hakeem signs, f*** him. Plenty of players can shoot the three.

The guy made 16 million dollars last year!!!

I'd take that salary over a life time!

He doesn't need the money, and if he was true to his word about keeping this team together HE'D SIGN for 4.1 million. He's just thinking about himself. He has probably made 3 times the amount of money in his lifetime than any other Rockets player has. It's ridiculous if you ask me.
