I think till they start hitting the trades, it'll be pretty transparent. IMO the first 5 are probably all but locked in.
I’m curious about what a more modernized triangle offense would look like because I definitely think the regular Phil Jackson Triangle offense is outdated…plus it’s a complicated offense to learn, I think the BBIQ of this team would have to increase tremendously or u get the version the Knicks were running the main issue I have with a Paolo-Sengun frontcourt is defensively…I can easily see that frontcourt being absolute dog water defensively on a nightly basis which is where my apprehension comes from I struggle to think of teams that have built a good defense while having a frontcourt that is weak defensively
That’s why PB5 is going to play the 3 spot or should play the 3 spot. KPJ JG PB5 Eason? Sengun or KPJ JG PB5 Sengun Bamba??
Holmgren's body holding up in the NBA is a BIG if, but if it does and if he fell to #3, he would be a great fit for the Rockets. Better than Banchero. He'd of course benefit Houston's anemic defense. And on offense, his outside shooting would provide excellent spacing for Green. But due to the risk factor, I'd prefer Banchero over Holmgren.
still don’t like Sengun defensively at the 5, but I’d be down to try some iteration of the 1st lineup a try because I envision a future of red carpets and valet service right to the rim with Paolo-Sengun as the 4-5 in the frontcourt
Im curious how that would look too! Lol… an nba coach I am not. My coaching so far has maxed out at 6th graders that said one can “envision” a version of it in their head… it’s not complicated right. It’s more or less the triangle offense… just more spread out! you are for sure right about the defense. The offense should work … eventually. They’re all too skilled offense socket for it to not. With the right coaching of course. And I know I’m still crazy … but I still think Paolo can slide over and play 3 for more than a couple minutes a game. If he can get his 3 point shot up to 37.5%+ I truly think he can play 3 more than 4 or 5 … but think he can play all three spots. the defense is 50/50 to me. I definitely fall into the camp of those that think much of Paolo’s defensive issues are overstated… and that ultimately the best defense is everyone playing solid team defense with great coaching and scheme. But his issues are nonetheless issues even if overstated and even if everyone is putting in 100% effort with ok coaching you still ultimately need some defensive studs. which is all the more reason it’s be insane to pass on Chet if he fell. He’s so good defensively, imo, that even WITHOUT everyone giving 100% defensively all the time and without great defensive coaching your defense would automatically improve many fold as he settles into the league. But conversely questions about how good he can be offensively as “the man” or even the supporting man and while I’m not ugly co vented about it you certainly have to question his frame. I still have my board as Chet Paolo then I’ve never been as high as most on Ivey until the last few days - not sure why, just coming around to his shooting holding up and the lack of spacing with Purdue hurting is game in actuality. I think I’d put him 3rd and Jabari 4th … not that it apparently matters. Seems like Rockets will have their choice of either Chet or Paolo which works for me.
Chet will be better than Gobert defensively AND offensively. Chet is Gobert with ability to switch 1-5 without being a liability. Plus he can shoot 39% from 3P.
I hear you. But if Presti — with his track record, and Stone — with his eye for talent, pass on Chet, there’s a reason for it and you’d just have to give benefit of the doubt for the time being. Both organizations know what they’re doing when it comes to the draft.
With much better handle, passing, court vision and BBIQ. I still think the Detroit Blake Griffin is the best comp. Something like 24/8/6 36% from 3 should be the eventual stat line. Paolo really is a unique talent. Less than 24 hours until he’s a Rocket!
Because he used that line to place Stone on Presti's level. Presti talent evaluation ability netted him 3 MVPs.
