Could you bring Capella over early and let him log some backup 5 minutes with that reach and shot blocking?
I like has beens vs never was type of players. Brooks, marion, and Okefor make too much sense. Butler makes alot of sense also.
Shooter/defenders guys. Shooter/defenders. And ASSUMING we re-sign Daniels 1. Jason Smith - 7-footer, can flat out shoot the rock. 2. Brandon Rush - backup SF/SG, excellent, excellent shooter/defender 3. Darrell Arthur -another 4 that can stroke it. 4. Brian Roberts - another good shooter if he's still available 5. Anthony Toliver - another cheap backup stretch 4 option 6. Charlie Villanueve - ditto #5 7. Shelvin Mack - another backup 1 that can shoot it 8. Ekpe Udoh - would rather give him a chance as a backup 5 at the minimum than Okafor's worn out body. 9. Toney Douglass - another good shooting/good defending 1 10. Greg Stiemsma - backup 5 11. Hassan Whiteside - this guy would be a great backup 5 if everybody could swallow down his goofy stupidness 12. **Hamed Haddadi - this guy would be sensational as a backup 5 if we could get him back in the league. He's big, tough, and he's got skills. I think he's getting blackballed unfairly because of the Iranian thing. I think he'd be a great value backup 5. 13. If Scotty Hopson gets released...he's worth consideration at the minimum salary.
1. Jordan Crawford- a young energetic combo guard who is 6'4. He attacks the rim, has great open court awareness and can shot the ball. 2. Vince Carter- even though father time is catching up to him, he can still score the basketball. 3. We still have T. Jones and Dmo who will be better than last season. Both players could split minutes at the 4 and 5 4. Daniel, Covinton , Caanon, Powell and maybe one of the rookies we drafted could see some time. 5. Evan Turner would be a nice addition as well. He plays solid defense, can create shots for himself as well as others. 6. Nzar Mohammed could be a nice back up for Dwight.
Oh damn I would love to take Marion from the Mavs. Great fit on this team and a perfect eff-you to Cuban. I don't know if he would take the room exception though, he might command closer to MLE money.
Sign all players willing to work for minimum wage, because we will have the most expensive starting lineup in the universe.
You guys might laugh, but I'd like to take a flyer on Wesley Johnson for the minimum. He's athletic, can rebound, and streaky yet decent from downtown. He's still young and I think he can develop into a decent 3 and D guy. He's just so long that he makes great defensive plays, which would be his main purpose here.
I would laugh with you too but this is bound to actually happen. Got to get at least one reliable player off the bench that McHale can trust. And it better not be Garcia.
