Very solid starter on most other teams. Maybe a real solid 6th man. On our team? Solid depth. Then again right now he is inconsistant from quarter to quarter and game to game. When he puts in consistant shot making when he is open and he needs teams to honor him at all times? Then he will be dangerous. Right now teams are still leaving him open every once in a while and he isnt a terror on defense.
i point to a post in the final minutes of this thread. pippendagimp went up with a post but a useful observation was blocked in front of him and instead of collecting his thoughts and returning with a non knee jerk opinion based on a single play in a preseason game, dude hit send and froze up all of the intelligent conversation in this thread. *pippendagimp does not have it.*
I didn't vote because I didn't like any of the choices. I don't think he will ever become a perennial All-Star or anything, but I do think he has the ability to become a good starter. Is the Keith van horn option just because they are both white? Kinda tired of that garbage to be honest.
A poor man's Eddie Griffin?? that's just rediculous. He's already better than Eddie ever was. And Chase will be in the NBA far longer than Eddie was as well. And Chase will not get caught masturbating in his car either. You can quote me on that. Trading for Eddie Griffin was one of the worst things this organization has ever done. Eddie Griffin had a career .377 shooting Pct. once again, your observation is simply ridiculous.
I dont see the Allstar in Bud. Sure he has the hops, speed and height and effort but he just lacks that swagger that allstars have.In his prime, He'll be a solid starter on a championship contender team and second option on a scrub team but definately not allstar material.
I don't think it's swagger, I do think he has a missing piece of talent. He can't create his own shot effectively. He's a guy who will always play of his teammates. That's role-player. A great role-player. He's the man that a super star can pass two when they get doubled team. He's Robin to someone else's batman. He's the guy who gets made to look good by someone else. I like the kid, but he can't create his own shot, and you can't learn that no matter how hard you work. You either got it or you don't by the time you get to the NBA. People underestimate how valuable it is to have that ability. And why players than can do it are so coveted. It's not about shooting percentage. A star is someone who you can give the ball too, and the defense knows and expects you're giving the ball too, and despite that, they can find a way to score even 40-50% of the time. That's the kind of player you need to win championships. C-bud is the kind of player you put next to that kind of player.
Chase Budinger next Ray Allen I like Cbud, he's a nice role player. But the over hyping (Cbud) and undervalueing of other players (Aaron Brooks) has gotten ridiculously idiotic. Is CBud a allstar? No. Will he be a solid role player? Yes.
....he just needs to be able to shoot in traffic...he either needs to make his release quicker or learn a step or two that'll get him just enough space to release...i guess it's creating a shot technically, but i dont think it has to be too extensive like a brooks or tmac of old type of stuff. Right now he's almost purely limited to set shots and that's going to keep him in a barely a starter to 6th man role.
