The only consistent player on the entire Rockets team has been Scola, every other player in the rotation or otherwise has been wildly inconsistent. DD
Kmart takes higher difficulty shots and usually has defenders in his face. Bud spots up on many open threes, I like when he attacks though. Hopefully he builds on the last two games.
Kmart has picked up his scoring the past month. Lee, Parsons, Dally, Dragic and Lowry still make their presence known even when not scoring. Chase is useless when he is not scoring.
Cmon man! You should know I'm not comparing Bud to them. I'm saying even the best shooters of all time are inconsistant at times... When you rely on the outside shot, you're going to be inconsistant. Just ask the Knicks. Just don't expect bud to be something he's not. He's a bench scorer, nothing more nothing less. He's not gonna be a major threat that's gonna give 25 a night. If that's what you expect then youll be disappointed
Allen and Miller were conistent scorers, they had slumps but more times than not they put up points. That is why I said don't mention Chase with them. I am not just talking about scoring, you are. Other players on the team can have shooting slumps and still be effective, making them conistent on overall impact. How can you watch basketball for so long and still be so ignorant?
The most consistent player on the team has been Kmart since the first 2 or 3 games. Parsons second-but its a lot easier to be consistent when you score 6 points a game lol. But plays the best defense on the team.
Would you agree that in order to be consistent, you need consistent minutes? That way you can ride out the slumps and have good games too? I think a lot of folks were far too harsh on CBud, I can recall one game against San Antonio where he got 12 minutes.....took two shots..TWO....and missed them both and folks were ready to string him up. Never mind that he also got 5 rebounds in those 12 puny minutes..... DD
Crap, was not finished.....my point is that the only thing that is NOT consistent, is people's take on our players, and yes, that includes me. DD
I would def agree one needs minutes to be consistent and he had them last year. He was inconsistent last year, the end of the season he had a nice stretch though. Also even with limited minutes you can still show heart and hustle. Chase was playing uninspired basketball, this goes beyond scoring. The past two games he has played with energy and I am not just talking about making shots. This is what he needs to continue to do to stay in the rotation. I don't like him playing with Martin though, one of them needs to be traded imho.
Again, that rings true of all players.....not sure why that point gets lost on so many people that they try to lay blame at the feet of a guy getting about 20 minutes a game. If you want consistency you are going to have to get completely defined roles, which did not happen early this year, completely consistent minutes which did not happen, and a familiarity with the guys you are on the floor with, also did not happen. It is just bizzare how people want to get a rope and hang a guy who is a decent role player, and an outstanding one for the $$$ we are paying him. DD
I would not argue that he had lost his way and was trying to find his fit on this team under a new coaching system. Some guys find it earlier, some later. Hell, the entire team was struggling with it. Numbers are down for everyone this year, all shooting percentages are down in the new system.....except for CBud now, and that is due to his 2 hot games. So, I think it is a matter of minutes, players, comfort, and it took him time to find his spot. People just leap to conclusions far too early, and it bugs me, so I post a lot to defend him. DD
Again you keep talking about scoring. Most of our players are struggling offensively compared to last year but they still hustle. Chase looked like he gave up bc he is one-dimensional. If he is not scoring then he is useless which is why people bash him. He is what he is, an offensive player with limited defensive presence. It is up to McHale to put him in a position to succeed. I don't think a player like Bud should be on the bench, we need his offense. Having players like Martin and Scola does not make it any easy for McHale though. If Bud can keep his energy up then he deserves to be in the rotation. I just don't want to see him moping around when he is missing shots. Bottom line it is up to McHale to figure out the rotations so players can have defined roles.
I love you just posting random stats but with that idiotic signature of yours. Here are some helpful protips for you: 1. It's "sportswriter" not "sportwriter"; though it's arguable if Hollinger & Bill James etc count as "sportswriters" in the traditional sense. 2. It's not "made up", it simply aggregates a number of stats and adjusts them for pace and boils them down to one number, rather than having to use 12 different numbers. LIke above, you posted 5 numbers. You could have just posted one. Not always necessary, but makes it easier to compare when dealing with a random data set, and in many ways much more revealing since it is pace-adjusted. 3. It's "who" not "whom", genius. you're welcome!
Why thanks Sam, much appreciated, and most of them are stats that are weighted in some way or the other, thus making their final tally made up. Carry on correcting grammar on the internet, it is crucial work. DD
You're welcome chap; obviously my work here is important, but not as important as you shouting your own special brand of stupid from as many e-rooftops as you can find.
