I'm pretty sure we got Hoes just to boost jersey sales

Rodon is the equivalent of Wiggins and Clowney in their respected sport. If the slot is 8 mil maybe he settles for 7.5 million. Im all for get the BP withe first 3 Astros picks in a loaded class. Astros could have the 1,34,40 picks in 2014 mlb draft.

With possibly the #1 pick and two additional picks in the top 40 or so, next year's draft ought to be fun.

Dude enough about Rodon -- that's all you ever talk about. Did you watch the super regional game where Rice got hit after hit against him? He hardly look immortal out there. ...and Rice had a lousy offense this year. He's a great player, for sure, but he's not the best ever.

He's a stud and would definitely be the highest rated player the Astros have had a chance to draft in the past three years, but he isn't a once in a generation type talent.

He's very, very good but let's not get crazy.

Great trade. Hoes is a 4th outfielder type but he can hit and run and walks so he's automatically the best outfielder on this team right now. The type of guy who could build value with PT and be good trade bait down the road if better talent emerges. Hader is the guy though. 19 year old lefty throws 95. Fits our system needs well. The draft pick is just icing on the cake. Glad it's finally over.

Rodon's not even universally ranked as the top prospect in next year's draft. Kiley McDaniels has RHP Jeff Hoffman ranked ahead of Rodon as next year's current top draft prospect.

Plus, even if you think Rodon is the top guy (and to be fair a lot of the industry does), a lot can happen in 10 months. He was throwing 88-90 with shoulder stiffness for a good portion of the early year. Who knows what happens going forward.

Fourth OF types are typically guys who either play only good defense or have potential pinch-hit pop.

If you're just saying 4th OF type because that's what you read from Baltimore... they're only saying it because on that team he would be the 4th OF.

I don't know about that. Doesn't look like he'll have the bat to carry a corner outfield spot. Doesn't seem to have the glove to handle center. Sounds exactly like a 4 OF profile. Have you read anyone project him as more than a 4 OF?

Has some experience at 2nd and 3rd, although that apparently didn't go great. Maybe he could be a super-sub. Anyways, I'm sure he'll be given an opportunity to prove he can stick at an OF corner.

I hate that so many fans see guys now, even when they first come up, as possible trade pieces immediately.

I'm not trying to bash your post, I promise I'm really not. But at some point I hope the guys coming up are big league Astros. I hope Hoes turns into a Nick Markakis type, not a trade piece

Whoa, not sure how he slipped my mind. Two right handers and two lefties. I like it.
