Hes actually probably happy. Gets to locate to home for a year. Rehab Train. Pick a team etc. And still gets all his money with no obligation to bucks

There's zero need for Dame to be picked up by the Houston Rockets. Zero.

I don't think we even can at this point unless he wants to take the vet minimum. How many teams have MLE money left?

Some people say he can finally got to Miami now. That or if he wants to ring chase, Presti can allow him a spot on the roster.

I wouldn't have a problem with him on a prorated vet min but you have to ask yourself as an organization what are you getting? This guy will not be ready until MAYBE April and then in what playing condition. What does he really offer you? A 1 month rental. You offer him a free chip. He has no bond or time with the team and how effective would that be in a playoff situation. Limited defensive ability and no chemistry. It looks good on paper and if you had a struggling guard rotation it might appear useful but you know he is not coming back in 2026-2027 on a vet min. You cannot exchange FVVs salary to him. FVV is a use it or lose it with operating above the cap. He has to believe he is still a $50M/yr player after this year.

I am sure he is ecstatic he got waived. He can get paid double next year

For Dame, it isn't about getting double paid.

Now (1) he doesn't even have to earn the $113 million, (2) he can ditch Milwaukee and rehab back in Portland where his kids are and (3) assuming he chooses to resume basketball, it's 100% his choice where he plays.

He's definitely not getting anything close to a $50 million salary for 2027 when he's 36 years-old coming off an Achilles tear. He might get the MLE.

If he were ready for spot minutes by playoff time a one month rental isn’t much of a gamble. I’ve watched him torch way too many games to believe it wouldn’t be worth it, provided some health. If he could give you 10 minutes in the playoffs as the 4th guard that’s an opportunity I’m investigating.

Are they allowed to re-sign before the end of his old contract with them?

Thought he just couldn't resign for a year and since he's injured for a whole year it doesn't matter.
